This signing would be PERFECT for us. A proper, old fashioned winger who goes past his man and gets crosses in.

I''m a fan. Whenever I''ve seen him, he''s been creative, quick and skilful. I worry that he''s had so many clubs though.

P.S. where''s the ugly football fans website? I''d like to enrol.

This begs the question - if we are interested in him now why didnt we sign him in January??  He cost Stoke £100,000 after a loan period.  Probably a decent signing if cheap - I would rather see us spend a decent amount on the right wing position for an Edwards or Halford.

Luke also had the dubious honour of being voted ''Premiership''s Ugliest Player'' in the 2002/03 season.

So, Worthy has, at long last, identified the right wing position as a weakness in his team, has he? Or is he right in saying (as quoted in today''s EDP) that it''s been difficult finding a suitable player to fill that berth since Mark Rivers left? I''m no expert on player availability, but I really can''t believe that there has been nobody good enough out there to fill that slot in the past 2 or 3 seasons, can you?

I did inform everyone that worthy was a fan of his, i do have a source close to the club and perhaps you will believe me with my news in future. Unfortunately i have no further gossip at the moment, only to reiterate that worthy is a fan of Steve Howard and that a new coach was needed at carrow road.

Hmm - its good that he is a specialist right winger but my only doubt is whether he is robust enough when it comes to defending?   He strikes me as lightweight and any solution to the right flank problem has to defend as well as get forward otherwise we end up with Hux like gaps appearing on the right as well as the left.

But its a clear step in the right direction.

i think this would be a good signing, although i have to agree with a previous post that if he''s that near the top of the list then why didnt we make a move in jan for him considering our rather poor record of a right winger.

i''m not necessarily worried by his number of clubs, but i do think that he''s got enough expereince in the championship to prove a good buy. Bearing in mind that we need two players for this position and the flexibility of carlos edwards in being to play right back (am i the only one with no faith in MLJ?) then his purchase may not be a sign that edwards will not come - he;s the one i really want tho

he''s also got one of the main pre-requisites for a worthy buy - he''s scored against us.

I think personally that Chadwick would be a great signing and, even if he isn''t, it at least shows that Worthington has FINALLY started to address the main problem with balance in our squad- IMO this is good news whatever the final outcome.

Loaned out to Reading and Burnley , given a free transfer to West Ham , sold to Stoke for £100.000  , if anybody thinks thats a great signing and the type of player that will get us promoted ...well  incredible.

Just to reiterate a point made above, when choosing Edwards or Halford I was lookin g at balance in the team.  With Hucks or McVeigh out left and Etuhu in the middle we need a bit more graft on the right than outright flair - such like the above players would give - to bring balance to the side.  That said however, he IS a right midfielder and so would be warmly welcomed.

But still Stoke signed him for 100K in January - WHERE WERE WE????? (spending more than 100K on JJ2''s wages to bench warm)

Quite right, Eric Cantona was totally over rated at 1 million.

Luke Chadwick is a very good player in my opinion and would be a good signing for us.

At Man Utd he looked the business but Fergie got rid of him, having quite a selection of other players to choose from

I don''t know what happened at West Ham, maybe he and Pardew didn''t see eye to eye but I hope he hasn''t lost any of the talent he had, because at Stoke he is one of their best players.

I think he''d fit it well in the position we need to secure so much

at the end of the day - anything''s better than having Robinson and Hughes in the starting 11 for another season!

Agreed, Paul R, we did miss a trick there and you have to wonder what we were playing at but I think it is a good sign that at least he has acknowledged that we need a right sided midfielder. And to answer ''we need a manager'', Hucks was loaned out to Forest and us before we signed him and he has been quite a good signing hasn''t he and if you insist on measuring everything in terms of strict financial value (foolhardy approach IMO) perhaps you could remind me how much we paid for Matt Svensson - who I think also performed extremely well in our promotion season - in fact I''d have him back in a flash!

I don''t suppose Chadwick and Cantona are mentioned in the same breath too often, but you certainly have a valid point! - the number of clubs a player has, and the fees paid, quite often don''t show the ability of a player and it is silly to fall into the trap of assuming they do.   Cantona had several loan spells in his career, which spanned quite a lot of clubs - and he even had a trial at Sheff Wed who didn''t fancy him, before he signed for Leeds.

Yeah that''s right, "We need a manager".

Not.

If you use logic like that to deduce whether a player is good enough Ade Akinbiyi, with his combined transfer fees of well over £15m, is the one of the best players ever to have played for Norwich!

FWIW I think he''s a very good player who needs to find somewhere he can show his talent. And his talent is why ManU took him on in the first place.

Lol - I think the case for the defence of Chadwick can now safely rest!!!!!

Interesting to note that worthy said "we quite like" hardly a "one we''ve been looking at for some time" is it? Are we down to the C list already?

For us to be considering Luke Chadwick just gives me even more concern for the new season. Yes he''s a decent player, worthy has identified a problem area, but we need quality. Just because he is an out and out wide man does not make him the answer. We need players with that something extra if we are going to challenge for promotion, and I dont think that Chadwick would give us that. He is more of the same of what we have but just happen to actually be a wide player. Guess at the end of the day it all comes down to what the level of our ambition really is. Halford or that guy from Luton would be a better bet, as would had been Danns from Colchester but we lost out on him, too expensive I guess.

Still got a feeling though that all this talk about Hulse while it lasted and now Chadwick is not the real thing. More like a smoke screen in one way or the other!?

I think this will be a good signing. Atleast we know that Worthy knows we don''t need strikers etc, but Midfeild. The right-Midfeild position has let us down for a while now, and i agree with a previous post that we should of got him in the jan transfer window. But nows our chance, and we must take it. It''s surely a step-forward??? It''s replacing Hughes and robinson for starting line-up and that alone is a huge advantage.

As for Etuhu, i think he has a good potential!
Another nowhere man to join NCFC! If Worthy''s signing him he MUST be bad! Bet he ends up playing centre back! RIGHT WINGERS AT CENTRE BACK!!!!!
No Brian, I think you will find it is STRIKERS AT RIGHT WING!!!! although once in a while we do get CENTRAL MIDFIELDERS AT RIGHT WING!!!!

Here are some Stoke fans viewpoints:

http://boards.rivals.net/default.asp?sid=944&p=16&style=2&forumId=3276&action=1&replytoid=531737099

Love this comment about Kevin Harper

I suppose we could offload him and play the magnificent TP signing that is Kevin ''Headless Chicken'' Harper, I mean at least he played for one of TP''s old clubs FFS.

He looked real dangerous when we had him on loan [pi]  in a way it shows how good we could be with 2 quick wingers.

And this comment

If another manager released a statement like this about a Norwich player, Worthington would be going ape. flipping hypocrite.

regardless of whether we rate him or not (and I personally do) worthington should not be trying to nab our players in this fashion. the fact that he states it as a matter of fact that he may ask him to join them stinks of arrogance.

looks like worthy has a reputation for admiring other teams players..........
