The Fish Seller 0 Posted June 19, 2006 After the renewals and waiting list uptake there were still several hundred season tickets left over this year for the first time in a few years. If the waiting list was 1800 and there were 300 tickets left that means a minimum of 2100 were so disatisfied that they have voted with their wallets and walked away. Remember that next time you accuse those wanting Worthy out and radical changes made of being a small rabble. And before we hear that it only represents one in ten of the season ticket holders, just remember how many expressed their unhappiness yet renewed for fear of losing their ticket for many years to come when the club put pressure on the renewers by publiscising the long waiting list. My guess is there''ll still be more than enough to make a noise if things continue as poorly as last year. 2100 disgruntled fans is a large number of customers for any Company to lose, with no waiting list next year I worry how the Club will manage to sell the seats if we have to endure another season like last. Surely it is also a significant enough drop in sales for any Company to acknowledge and monitor the reasons for?????
Citizen Journalist Foghorn 0 Posted June 20, 2006 I would have failed to renew, but for fear of the waiting list and losing my seat. Next season will be different and assuming the board stick to their guns and we fail (cos to be fair we have a lot of very poor players at the club now), I fear season ticket sales will drop significantly. mystic megson 0 Posted June 20, 2006 I didn''t renew, but disgruntlement with Worthy was not the reason. It was because of concerns that the board will take such a phenomenal level of renewals as a signal to . . . no, not reward us by investing more in the playing side, but . . . borrow more money, and/or siphon some off from the playing side, to enlarge the City Stand. My concerns are based on the statement in the 2005 Annual Report that "In the medium term we would like to further expand the capacity of our stadium. But to do so we need to find a way of financing this very sizeable investment." They also announced it on Radio Norfolk back in January.I''m not hung up on the idea of the season ticket as a badge of loyalty. If you pay for a casual ticket for every game, you put more money into the club than a season ticket holder. I recognise that some people can''t afford to do that. I''m not a high earner, but it''s worth the extra to stop feeling quite so powerless. If we''re so successful that I can''t get in, it''s a price worth paying as far as I am concerned. Mello Yello 2,572 Posted June 20, 2006 It''s the '' rollin snowball'' that comes before the avalanche.......I renewed, but I cannot shake off my lethargic and apathetic attitude towards the forthcoming season......Maybe I will drum up some enthusiasm after a few games and ifwe are showing decent promise........But, it''s like a stale relationship - I''m hangin'' in there for the sake of the bairns....As long as ''Hunters'' aim is true - one never knows? blahblahblah 2 Posted June 20, 2006 Forgive me if I misunderstand you here - but you are claiming that because 2100 people failed to renew that they automatically want Worthy Out. Utter rubbish.Sure, last season would have put a number of people off. But I wouldn''t mind betting that those that failed to renew have other reasons too. If worthy left the club, there''s no guarantee that those 2100 would come back. The official line was that 4% is the usual attrition figure for season ticket sales, regardless of performance. If we''ve only lost 6% of our season ticket holders as a result of last seasons'' mediocrity, that is a sign that the remaining 90% are optimistic supporters who renewed because they expect better this time. And we still have one of the largest regular followings outside the Premiership.
2100 disgruntled fans is a large number of customers for any Company to lose, with no waiting list next year I worry how the Club will manage to sell the seats if we have to endure another season like last.
Again, no proof that they are disgruntled. But you can see that the club are putting measures in place to ensure that this season is more successful than last. We''ll just have to wait and see what happens between now and August. South Norfolk Old Boy 0 Posted June 20, 2006 You are right Monty. If the board are as good at running a business as they claim to be then there wil be some serious frowning going on at Carrow Road. We are very close to meltdown and they know it. Anyone who cannot see the signs are simply ignoring the evidence. As you point out it is unprecidented in recent years for the tickets not to be snapped up. They are OK for this season but, given that they ask for renewal committment around January anything other than a blinding start or decisive action will result in the nightmare scenario as another 10% (or more) to renew, the parachute payments are gone and any trasfer kitty is eaten up by debt repayments. In short they have little more than three months to start to paying attention to their customers. Failure to do so will result in a catastrophic financial situation unwinding from the start of 2007 and no one wants to see that happen.
Jack Flash 17 Posted June 20, 2006 There was a very recent Report that ST Holders across the Country were not renewing in there thousands, including the Mighty Prem Fans - the report stated that circa 25% were not renewing and quoted several Clubs, such as Villa, whose renewals were down 31% I also noted that Sheff Wed were celebrating a massive 12000 renewals. So our 20000, despite a drop in renewals of 10%, is one of the best by a long way.
South Norfolk Old Boy 0 Posted June 20, 2006 I think the point that we may be missing here is that the reason these other clubs are experiencing such poor figures is that they have no waiting list getting season tickets is easy - we just joined that club!
I think this indicates somewhat that people Cant afford Football.. i fully believe that in the next 3 or 4 years there will be huge Price reductions in tickets as clubs realise they have cut their own throats by pricing themselves out of 95% of fans reach...jas :)
Cheeky Monkey 0 Posted June 20, 2006 Others clubs stats are irrelevant. The club needs to be a Market Leader not a Market Follower. Once again the NCFC PR machine is churning out simplified statistics to try and soften the impact of their own failures. Basic PR spin spun out of control. Do Mars ever say, oh w''ere down in sales on Whisper Bars but its ok because Kit-Kat by Nestle''s sales are even worse. Of course they don''t. They look at the core of their problem and discontinue their Whisper Bars and look to the future buy re-branding or new product development.Unfortunatley we''re stuck with a load of boring plain Whispers, that no one is that excited about. I doubt we''ll get any new product development. We tend to spend our budget on too much product testing and never trust to fully unleash it on the market place e.g. Danny Crow. So we sell out to a competitor (for free) and they have faith in their product and heh ho, their sales boom. What we want is something new and exciting, Double Rum Choc Chip with a caramel whirl over a flaky and sumptous biscuit base. Hopefully Mr Hunter will be the man who can persuade the powers to be to invest in some Rising Stars as opposed to Dead Dogs. But I, like Mello Yello, have renewed my season ticket but have no real excitement about the forthcoming season whatsoever. Shame, real real shame.
good work on the season tickets, the only bad point is you will now get to see just how useless Hughes, Etuhu, Colin and Robinson are. And you will get to see a sight that is truely amazing to behold: The sight of a ball being launched into orbit by a clapper before arriving at a towering center half''s head, with a little space alien standing in front of him.Its a beautiful thing. komakino 282 Posted June 21, 2006 Everyone I know who had a season ticket for last season, have renewed them for this season, but they ALL want Worthington to go and are looking forward to a post Worthy world. It would be very interesting to know the percentage of fans who felt the same way when it came to renew theirs, but that is something we''ll never know...
