Aaaarrrgh! Terrible news!

Recommended Posts

The Ferry Boat is closing!  At the end of May! (see tonight''s EEN)

They''re going to turn it into a wine bar.  Is nothing sacred?  Even if they did serve Greene King . . .

Last gig on Bank Holiday Monday 29th May.  Let''s get down there in yellow and green!

Oh dear, another traditional city centre (ish) pub is being transformed into a poncy wine bar.

I can only think that they are doing that in order to attract the metrosexuals etc that will be moving into the numerous property developments around the area.

What do you think?

[/quote] I suppose the demise of live music and the Ferry''s transformation into a new trendy new wine bar, will attract the ''Classier and more upmarket standard'' of escort ladies.....and from the local punters - there will be huge "sighs of executive relief"...............     [:$]

Terrible news indeed. I think the reason Greene King are taking this pernicious step is because the current tenants are packing up. It''s just a pity that an independent entrepreneur can''t take the Ferryboat over and turn it into a Fat Cat mark 2. That pub must have huge potential - but NOT as a trendy winebar, Norwich is definitely not in need of another one of those. A note to everyone: Use your pubs or lose them. Once they''re gone they''re gone, never to be replaced. Do you really want another "Upmarket block of luxury appartments" on your doorstep? I know I don''t.

even more away fans are going to cramb into the "home side" only bars on riverside then.

Its sad news indeed.. but for live Music the Marquee has always been better... make sure u dodge the glasses though.

I agree with the SLoane Rangers moving into Riverside.. the fact its slap bing in the middle of the red light district wont matter as they wont be mixing with the "riff raff" in their trendy wine bar will they? god knows what they will think of a load of football fans trapsing past their homes making the place look untidy 23 times or more a season.

jas :)

its a disgrace!

i havent meet anyone in norwich who wants this bars.or im not friends with anyone who does.

i just hope norwich doesnt lose its charactor and turn into a second london
