lucky green trainers 0 Posted May 12, 2006 watching question time last night, piers morgan believed the silence on the labour backbenches during prime ministers questions indicated blair had lost their support and that effectively he was finished. i interpreted the crowd silence at the brighton game and since in the same way - as anybody sensible would - all this silent majority stuff is whiffy spin & nonsense. both blair & worthy have enjoyed good success, but equally their performances have dropped over the last couple of years. it can be argued that both have clung onto power too long - in my opinion blair should have gone as soon as cameron became tory leader - he looks like a real contender unlike the others. imo worthy should have gone after the wolves match - despite sticked resolutely to the task, for me he''s never pulled the team around to look like convincing promotion challengers since, only perhaps soton at home and second half leeds stand out as the type of performances needed to suceed in the championship. imo, if blair stayed now and worthy carries on (why would a high calibre first team coach risk coming to city with worthy''s position in dispute with the fans) do they both run the risk of accusations that they are putting their personal ambitions above their party/club respectively? Misery Guts 0 Posted May 12, 2006 well the glaring difference between Blair and Worthington would be that when Gordon Brown evantually takes Blair''s position he will be faced with turning a loathed government with unpopular policies into a fresh and exciting party that will not alienate backbenchers and labour voters alike , a new manager for Norwich City won''t be following Worthington''s policies he''ll be creating his own which will make his life early on at the club very easy. YankeeCanary 0 Posted May 13, 2006 Comparing these two individuals is, quite frankly, assinine. Politicians, no matter what their stripe, have up to 50% of the population ( or more ) against them before they even take up their newly elected post. The only thing that binds Tony Blair and Nigel Worthington together is that they have both gone through "stints" in Blackpool. Other than that, observe the following differences in level of sophistication:Tony Blair can look you in the eye and sincerely tell you how we must be responsible to society while he is deftly removing your wallet from your inside jacket pocket. Nigel ( and his bosses ) will glare at you as he takes the contents of your wallet, advising you should carry more cash if you want to be considered a supporter.Tony will tell you he has to listen to the will of the British people ( which is a different thing from acting on it ). Nigel will tell you he doesn''t care what the fans think.Tony will hunt for a microphone if one isn''t readily available. Nigel will bury every microphone he can lay his hands on in the Norfolk marshes. These two are well suited for hide and seek.Tony will let any talented individual CARRY the can for Party failure. Nigel will GIVE any talented indivual the can to avoid team success. The only thing they have in common is that the day is not far away when they would give their right arm to be re-elected in Blackpool.
streakey 0 Posted May 13, 2006 To get Blair out there will be a demorcratic vote by the members of the party. To get Worthington out the fans have no say in his role as manager. If there was he would be out with a bang.Until then we are are at the mercy of Delia and the board.Just how many lives has he got left ?
