applauding good football or the opposition

Recommended Posts

i think that there is a big divide here, and the KTF''ers will no doubt point to the cheering for the opponents as a way of putting their spin on those ''not supporting the team.'' From those i spoke to that clapped the QPR 2nd goal, they applauded the fact that it was a good goal that came from good passing, a good finish and a complete balls up from someone who spent half the season as our captain.

can anyone who actually cheered clapped, whatever, clarify why they did it please?

It was as part of the protest to show the board that we are fed up.

I want us to lose every game until worthy gets kicked out. Everytime we win it gives him some more games.

I clapped the QPR goal, cheered the passes, shouted ''HOOF!!''  I didnt boo hughes but I did clap when he was substituted...

It was a reaction, it was the fans finally breaking, it was a way of saying "we have been tolerant all season and inside the ground we have supported (for the most part), but enough is enough, the team was playing DISGRACEFULLY yet again and many fans were going to tell all and sundry how they felt...  LET DOWN, by the players, the management and the board.   The premiership was an opportunity and we are manageing to mess it up.

Even after half time the crowd had a chance to calm down and only after we started playing poorly again for 15 minutes did the fans start to get wound up again

It was a reaction to everything our manager has said in the last few weeks, after poor wins and dire defeats, his posive comments about the matches wind people up (hamiltonesque).  It was a reaction to Andy Hughes being played week in week out despite being a below average player.  It was finally seeing a poor team come to carrow road and get what they deserved after are flukey wins.

Norwich fans are not fickle, they struggle tro bring themselves to vent the anger like many other teams fans do.  Norfolk is a laid back part odf the country and its people are likewise.  But when you bottle up your frustration for so long and people are gonna vent it sometime - and thats why it happened.  I dont think many fans are happy about it, I certainly don''t look upon cheering the QPR goal as a highlight of my time supporting norwich.  But as Nigel would say "It was passion, Roy, Pure Passion".  I was as unhappy about their goal as the next man, but we were getting what we deserved from a poor team that had not won in 9 games!!

I said it a few months ago - when will Carrow Road break, well after QPR''s second goal I think it happened.

I didn''t applaud but lots of people round me did. It wasn''t the same as applauding a great goal like I did when Bergkamp scored here last season. It was a very sarcastic cheer & clapping in protest of the dire performance on display. I have to say, I was disgusted with our fans Monday as I believe in supporting the team irrespective of who''s on the pitch as long as they are wearing yellow. But, People keep saying it''s just a small minority of fans chanting Worthy Out, or Jeering Hughes. However, it was very loud Monday to be only a small minority!!

Yeah no problems Rossi. I clapped because I appreciated the quality shown by the two QPR wide players in their well taken goals. I have never clapped or appluaded an away goal before, but we were playing so badly that I think I and a number of fans wanted to show that they were displaying the skill and ability we, as the promotion favourites at the beginning of the season, should have been showing.

This also happened at the Bernabeu earlier in the season when Real Madrid fans stood up and clapped Ronaldinho''s goal (Norm they throw pigs heads at opposition players) because they were so fed up of their supposed galacticos performing like a bunch of pampered losers.

I still can''t quite believe we won, but it goes to show that with Earnshaw and Huckerby we have two very talented players, who with the right service and the right tactics could fire us to promotion next year.

As much as I want Worthy out I could never will us to lose. I''ve been supporting Norwich for nearly 25 years & that comment makes me see red!!!!

i applauded it for the skill shown by lee cook in taking the ball past two defenders on the edge of the box. how i would love to see that skill from someone in a yellow shirt other than huckerby who constantly did everything on his own on monday. i also vented my frustration towards worthless as he doesnt have a clue and delia as she needs to wake up and realise whats going on is ruining our football club.

i never booed hughes whilst he was on the pitch and i never applauded when he was taken off either, but wat i was annoyed about was the way some people hurled abuse at the guy which was unreal, he is one of the few triers in our team even if he isnt blessed with a lot of ability, what nobody has picked up on is how down he looked upon realising his error.

I also applauded the second QPR goal out of pent up frustration , we

have been waiting since the Brighton home game for a chance to show our

true  feelings about the crisis at carrow rd . The club is like a

sick man the sooner the cause for all this poison is  removed the

sooner we can unite behind who ever delia and co decide can take this

club back to where it belongs . I suggest we do as Luton did with

appointing Mike Newell  have ballot of all the best candidates for

the job , that way the majority  not the minority get who they

think is best for the club . OTBC

Which is the worst crime for a city fan,

  • a lazy hand clap for QPRs second goal,
  • abusing hughes in general
  • moaning at hughes for his assist to that goal,
  • wanting and chanting worthy out,
  • standing up for wanting worthy out
  • sitting down for not wanting worthy out
  • singing this is embarrasing or
  • can you score a goal for us or
  • are you watching delia (from my personal view point that chant should be what are you watching delia[;)]),
  • not cheering hux goal,
  • not chearing the winner,
  • abusing a fellow fan (and getting escorted from the ground) for having a different opinion, or
  • following the beying crowd in a sheep like fashion?
  • tolerating the performances by backing the management?

Only abusing Hughes and violent behaviour is inexcusable;  the rest are all valid expressions of opinion that may be happen to be different to your (or my) own.

Which did I do? 1, 3, 4, 5,6 (although I was dragged to my feet by my neighbours and gave a warm round of applause), 10 and I dont regret any of them.

CJF said: I said it a few months ago - when will Carrow Road break, well after QPR''s second goal I think it happened.

Funnily enough, I was discussing this very point on the way to the match on Monday.  The average Norfolkman will take more rubbish when it''s dished out than most but, when he snaps, everyone and his uncle knows about it.  The 2nd QPR goal came about 3 minutes after the loudest chorus of Worthy Out we''ve heard during a Carrer Rud game all season. It was resonating all around the Jarrold stand, so was certainly not confined to the Barclay/Snakepit end.

When the 2nd QPR goal went in (and it was deserved, following a neat build-up) I think the home fans just snapped. The only way to release their HUGE frustration which had built up was to cheer/applaud/laugh - and rightly so.

And, surpise, surprise - what do we get?

1. Hoooooooooose subbed (although, like so many others, I deplored the non-stop jeering/booing and ''clapping'' him off.  Go for Worthless - he bought him and picks him)

2. The team stung into action (having been given the ''right to play'' by the fans [:@]) followed by 3 goals in 12 minutes against very mediocre opposition.

3. A totally undeserved victory which it was hard to feel good about.  Frankly, I''ve had enough of leaving Carrer Rud feeling cheesed off about our performances this season - worse still when, somehow, we''ve won.

I still remember the pain of watching Brighton & HA play us off the park with 10 men for 40 odd minutes in February before Earnie sneaked a late couple of goals. As my wife said at the time: "If that''s what you call a good Valentine''s Night out, you can bl**dy well keep it"...  [:$]

It''s got to change - we just can''t keep on accepting this stuff. And I don''t think the Canary Norfolkman will any more.  It''s reached the point of no return.  So, Delia, no 10 games for Worthless next season to see how he gets on.  We all know what he''s capable of - and he''s shown all season that it''s not good enough.

P45 for Worthless!!

lee cook scored a good goal - he had loads of time in the city box, was unchallenged and took his chance well.  from where i sit absolutely loads of fans where cheering and clapping - ironically or sarcastically in my view.

i know I''m going on a bit of a tangent, but this whole Andy Clap situation is quite poignant in this thread. Just stick with me, please!

The large proportion of signings made by Worthy have been poor, but this has come to the fore this season.

Andy Clap and Etuhu have been the ones that the fans use as examples of bad buys. For me, I think the odd dig from MITS, or from the pages of the pink un is expected and most fans would leave it there. IMHO, had it not have been for the firm re-inforcements of Nigel''s purchasing policy from Jolly Roger, many fans wouldnt be going to lengths to point out a players faults.

Everything is so bad, and the denials from CR are pathetic. That is why people did what they did at the game.

People see the performances of Etuhu and cant believe he''s wearing OUR shirt, whilst a scan towards Andy Clap confirms why he got exactly the same treatment at Reading. Fans see this as evidence for their case in exactly the same way as hoofball

i clapped, not cheered when both qpr goals went in. probably wasn''t making hardly any noise as not many around me were, but thats not the point. if it was a game that meant something, i wouldn''t.

like the promotion season, alot of people clapped when preston scored in our 3-2 victory over them. i guess its the same if someone has a cracking shot, and its saved, you are applauding the shot aswell as the save.

my opinion on it, is if it isn''t cheering and is done in the right way, there is nothing wrong with it.

I clapped and thought, thank God they''ve scored, maybe, just maybe, he''ll resign now and we''ll get our beloved club back.
