Hoddle on his way??

Recommended Posts

It looks like Wolves are going to be rid of serial underacheiver/overspender Glenn Hoddle.  And Guess what Mumby, Doncaster et al. It aint gonna cost them £700,000 either.

note the final comment.  I hope this aint a foreshadow of our next season.....  If so the board had better hang their heads in shame.

It makes me so angry!!! They set out to get promoted and failed miserably, as we did, with a huge transfer budget and wage bill, they can see he isnt gonna do it and so sack him, why cant we?

didnt hoddle get promoted with Swindon a few years ago??

I think the wolves bosses see Zero improvement in this season''s performances over last.  In the same way we have not improved over 41 matches neither have wolves in over a season and a half...  All after money has been spent.

Hoddle is also a negative manager (surprising considering his playing career) and many fans have been calling for his head.  Worthy on the otehr hand has spent 5 years building this side!!!

I bet their considering Mike Newell amongst their replacements for Hoddle.

Some team will get him next season and i bet they will do really well.

We''ll just carry on with Worthington and then decide to give him the chop in November but by then it will be too late as we''ve screwed up and all the best managers are not available.

I get so frustrated and angry these days with our club that i really try to take as little interest in it as possible for the sake of my sanity.

My tuppenceworth:

I would think that Alex McCleish would do a good job here. Did really well with Hibs on a limited budget, brought through some really good youngsters, as well as some astute buys. Won trpohies in his first Rangers season (agreed, its Scotland), and made a decent fist of the Champions League this season.

But do we need yet another Long Ball man - Mike Newell has built a fairly successful Team at Luton around a Long Ball game, admittedly partly down to their awful pitch, but he is a real advocate for Hoof!

Good call Eadie''s Right Foot! McCleish could be an excellent replacemnt, Get Bowen as No.2 & we''re away!!!!

You''re spot on Duke!

The Board will stick with Worthy now and over the summer. Then there will have to be yet further sustained evidence of poor performances and mid table mediocrity before they finally act. As you say this will be many months too late yet there are a lot of fans who support that strategy (i.e give Worthy until next season). That is riddled with flaws though:

1. If we had got rid in February we would have had the chance to get a new guy in who could have seen the team in real action and made judgements accordingly.

2. He would have all summer to assess further and make transfers in and out.

3. He would have the remaining Ashton money and last parachute payment available.

IF the scenario pans out as we speculate (and Worthy is pushed out say October, November) ALL the above will have been wasted - the team will be mid table with bad morale, the infighting at FCR will have continued apace, the money will have been wasted by Worthy in the summer leaving the new guy with no room to manoeuvre until January and then no money to spend anyway!
