Attanasio interview on the Pinkun

Recommended Posts

Personally, i'm not too concerned about money going into targets at this level, it's the holding on to players where i'd like to see the biggest change.  We can't develop if we're only getting 18 months out of our better talent coming through.

Not heard too many good things about him from Brewers fans but he does come across well in the video. Here's hoping he will put his money where his mouth well

Please elaborate; how many Brewers fans do you know and what have they said?

I haven't heard too many good things from Brewers Fans... or bad things... as I don't know any.

Thread from their forum here. Don't think much has been discussed by them since then

So, conclusion; the usual bullsh*t from cc? Nothing massively negative and over two years ago?

TBF I’ve seen comments from several Brewers fans who seem to think Attanasio should be spending more, they should be doing better than they are, and that he ought to be concentrating on them, not diluting focus over here. But it just sounds like the usual entitled supporters who forget all the things the owner has actually achieved if the little I’ve read about their history is correct.

I suspect most fans moan about their owners not spending enough, apart from the very elite?

This going to be exactly our issue. Although they copped some flak the previous regime were open and honest about how they were run the club. No one got to angry when we sold our best players because we knew it was going to happen. Whereas now we have a very rich owner people will easily hold it against them if we don’t spend enough or let players go. Managing those expectations will be difficult and however much the new regime spend some people will want them to spend more.

It will be very interesting to see how we progress under MA. He comes over as a quiet unassuming person who strongly supports both his sporting clubs and the surrounding local community. On the other hand he has founded and built up very large investment firms and is said to be personally worth $700 million and The Brewers are valued at $1.28 billion. Entrepreneurs  with that kind of record would normally be regarded  as tough ruthless individuals. The sporting club has modest average attendances of 30k and lease their ground which apparently was constructed with the assistance of public money amounting to $290 million. So by most English Football Club standards he is on a different planet and it is intriguing to know what really is the attraction to buy East Anglia's "premier team"  !!! On the face of it he is in a position to inject very substantial funds subject to current rules. In common with many other locals I have invested £100  but not even sure I will ever get that back !!!

I strtongly suspect that he probably felt it was a good fit for him in terms of the vibe of the club and the business model. He gives a strong impression that what he does is genuinely fun for him and he enjoys it for the fun of the games on the pitch as he does the games in the boardrooms and the ledgers.

Seemingly he finds it fun even when transfers in don't work out! This from a man who built his house in S Cali using "found" materials. Complex.

Nicked sand from a beach didn't he? NCFC is a business venture for him and his investors. I can't see how it can be any other way, unless he wants to win the league for losing the most money.

Absolutely. All such decisions have risk. Aiming to make every call right is unrealistic. The aim is to have the benefit of your good calls outweigh the detriment of the bad calls.

Obviously it's too soon to say whether he'll do that at Noriwch, but the fact he has managed that at Milwaukee suggests there's reason to think it can pan out for the better.

Did he? Has there been a verdict on the case? His position is that he was acting within the rights of the permits he'd obtained regarding repairing the sea wall to protect his property.

Let’s hope it’s not a modern day parable 😳

We have very different memories of Emis departure then. The anger and debates went on for ages, and wouldn't take much to get them going again.

Maybe I should have said the minority got angry. Murphy, Maddison, Murphy, Lewis, Godfrey, Buendia, Aaron’s, Andy O, Sara and Rowe. The club was completely transparent that they all would be sold it was just a case of when rather than if.

I’ll give you the timing of Buendia was a bit off compared to the others but was I surprised he was sold? no I wasn’t therefore it is hard to be angry about it.

I suppose it’s a far cry from the days of Robert Chase saying if Chris Sutton leaves then so will I. It’s a challenge for the new owners as selling players is now more of a choice as they have the money to at least try and hold onto them.

People will dismiss it it I have kinda of liked the clarity that we have had recently where the club has not pretended we are anything other than a selling club. In fact we have openly embraced it.

Each one  of those sales were greeted by some with anger. I realise however that we are just part of the footy food chain.  I also accept the need to sell and anger is not on the spectrum for me, about footy anyway. But denying it existed and then going on to say you didn't feel it , means exactly that, you weren't angry  , others were.  Your, or my feelings are not the feelings of all. Thanks.
