Simple, he's just better. He was my MOM on Saturday and was pretty much the only one trying for the whole 90 minutes.

..but you'd agree we do lose a lot of our attack down the right?...he doesnt overlap and get crosses in as much as Stacey

Have to say, I'm not really sure why Fisher is keeping Stacey out currently.

We're missing a hell of a lot of attacking play on the overlap down the right ,which Fisher doesnt replicate

That's not really how we play so much nowadays. Fisher and Doyle tend to tuck into midfield rather than overlap Sainz and Crnac.

Fisher is a more complete defender than Stacey imo and a technically better footballer which is why Thorup likes him. Probably why Doyle plays instead of Chrisene as he can pick a pass even if he (seriously) lacks pace.

Thorup talks of patterns, and you can see this is a big part of it.  And it makes sense as if you're creating such patterns of play where there's multiple options, Fisher is still quite raw in regards to keeping his head higher up the field but it's certainly coming.

If we can keep those movements coming and the fullbacks make those diagonal runs inside, it means they can opt to go outside to the likes of Crnac or Sainz, through the middle or back if they hit a problem.

You can certainly see these patterns of play forming but it's going to take time still.  Whereas two players overloading a wing is more immediate and somewhat easier to implement from an offensive perspective, If there's turnover of possession our fullbacks and offensive wide men get caught out high up the field in the same space.

I do wonder if the idea is that we'll need less of the Kenny/Nunez plugging the gaps if we can get this right.  As that's something we had to utilise last season too.

Yeah this is correct. Fisher is doing everything right. I understand the concern about our right-side looking ineffective offensively but that's down to Crnac really.

Obviously one of the others is Sainz, but who is the other? Personally, I think we've got a few.

in my opinion Fisher & Sainz are the other two (so far). Round of the mill was a bit harsh .. I would say "standard championship" players.

We lost Nunez leading 1-0 at Stoke.. then went on to draw 1-1 and draw next two. Then we lost Sargent (and McLean) and went on to the lose the next 3. How two players can make so much difference is quite incredible really.

See Arsenal & Man City

It’s way too early to be thinking about promotion or relegation yet - Watford are in currently in the playoffs, but even so they’re still only 10 points clear of the drop. I know we’re currently going through a bad patch, but we’ve had a lot of players out injured

Although Sargent’s out until the new year, I think Gunn and Nunez are both supposed to be back after the international break and McLean will be back after the next game, so hopefully we will see an improvement soon
