Crnac; Your thoughts so far

Recommended Posts

I must say I'm delighted Crnac took all my (very) constructive criticism on board and adjusted his entire game to suit....

Also a special note for the assist - maturity to pass than go for a hattrick.

If only McLean could follow suit and take on board my constructive criticism and adjust even just one of his multifarious failings...😎

Yeah, I think you can take most of the credit to be honest.

Good job JHT knows more about football than some of the managers in here. 😁

In Hoff we trust.

He is raw. But confidence will see him move up a level. Possibly the same with Forson. Would like to see him clatter someone, just like Fisher. Schwartau seems to play with a great deal of confidence for young player. Lots of potential in the summer signings.

Imagine if we could, just possibly, show a bit of patience when it comes to evaluating young players moving to a new country.

Crnac - 20 years old, Forson - 21, Schwartau - 18, Fisher - 20.... the future is bright, the future is yellow!!

Sounds boring. On a discussion forum it's probably more entertaining to call it as you see it and then if the player proves you wrong everyone can poke fun at the poster yet everyone's happy cos they support Norwich. He never lacked support during games from anyone

Plenty can't show patience for young players coming out of the academy so I think you're asking for too much there.

Exactly. Young lads not use to playing high intensity football week in week out like the Championship. Really impressed with the way they are improving every game.

It has not the goals so much as the manner in which he scored them. The first today was almost nonchalant. No rush or wild stab, Just calmly setting himself up, and bang. The second he was in the right place, something Pukki did time after time. The mark of a top goalscorer.

His set up for Marcondes was again made to look simple (it was not) - just as he took the goal v Plymouth. Turned the defender. Crnac is also two footed, and looks excellent with either foot.

I suspect that long before the season is out, some will be asking if we can keep him. The lad is a class above.

Quite happy to personally be on the right side of history (at the moment) Nobody would have blinked if the past two games had been Sargent performing as Ante has.

Here's hoping I'm right forever.

So Crnac needs more time, but suddenly two weeks later he's MOTM?

There's a balance here me thinks.

It was true:; he did need more time: About three weeks as it turned out!

Generally I agree but it's funny how few people were actually able to factor in his age, change of country etc before 'calling it how they see it.' it isn't like these were by hidden attributes.

I'd have been amazed if Sarge had shown Crnacs level of touch and close control, he does occasionally  but it looks more like luck than good judgement, Crnac is tidy, not an expression I'd use for josh. .. he has different qualities.  Good stuff.

Crnac has done very well against the divsion's two highest goals-conceding teams in the last two games.

However, I watched him in person lose every 50/50 challenge in the air and on the deck last week against West Brom, in a generally ineffective performance.

For clarity, I do not wish to join Hoggy's Crnac club. But, the exact calibre of player we've got for our £8.5m can surely only be judged over a full season, with all quality of opposition played, while, of course, accepting King's mitigations.

Apologies if if don't take what you saw in person on face value when it doesn't match the stats (fwiw in won 2 out of his 5 aerial duels, and only lost his only ground duel). I am always struck by fans who judge by what they want to see, which on this board tends to be 442, big man up top, 2 speedy chalk on the boots wide men, a CDM destroyer etc etc and anything else falls short. Plenty were willing to give Crnac pelters while he was doing a decent job on the right in a 433, now we are not supposed to judge because he has 3 goals and an assist in the past four days. He is obviously a very diligent, hard working and technically capable striker. This was pretty obvious from the get go.
