Midlands Yellow 4,692 Posted November 7, 2024 (edited) Strange decision even though they’ve had an awful start to the season. Maybe best in the Non Football section but I believe that’s on the way out. Edited November 7, 2024 by Midlands Yellow

Up and Away 118 Posted November 7, 2024 (edited) My pre-season prediction of Coventry to get promoted is not looking good. I think Robins has done an excellent job at Coventry, but maybe has just run out of steam? They started slowly last season which along with all the extra games in the FA Cup cost them a top six finish. Robins should get a good job somewhere else assuming he wants to throw his hat back into the ring. Edited November 7, 2024 by Up and Away

Struggling to remember a closer gap between the top six and bottom three at this stage of the season. Is incredibly bunched up, so any team who go on a run can leap up the table. Millwall now fifth. hogesar 10,920 Posted November 7, 2024 That new owner has done an absolutely cracking job so far. Can't believe why Delia wouldn't have wanted him taking over NCFC.
king canary 8,900 Posted November 7, 2024 Oh no! Not the man with the greatest track record of developing young players in the league! On a serious note, I think sometimes things run their course- he's been there 7 years and maybe the players have stopped responding to his methods. Makes me think of Curbishley at Charlton. 2
Wacky Waving Inflatable Arm Flailing Tube Man 4,713 Posted November 7, 2024 They've invested a lot of money and I guess the owner wants a promotion push. Robins has done extremely well but has always struck me as a 'steady Eddie' type, despite being a penalty shootout from promotion two seasons ago. About two or three years I stated that Russell Martin would have a better managerial career than Mark Robins and most disagreed. It looks like I can probably cash that in already, and Martin is still only 38.
Christoph Stiepermann 1,265 Posted November 7, 2024 Did really well to get them up the leagues and stabilize them as a club in this league looking to get into the play offs but they haven't been able to push on for the last few seasons which is why maybe their board have pulled the trigger. It's one of those that's going to look harsh from the outside but it could just be a case of things getting a bit stale and some fresh ideas needed. I've never been massively impressed watching them when they've played us but no one can argue what a great job he did getting them where they are under huge pressure with all sorts going on behind the scenes but I think the last few years they've only finished on or just below par for the quality of players they have. It's easy to say they should be grateful for what he's done and I'm sure they are but if they want to get promoted they must think they needed to change things up. S_81 1,133 Posted November 7, 2024 An unimaginable decision based on recent seasons. But clearly have had a bad start and have expectant owners. The Assistant, Adi Vivash, being forced out in the summer for reasons unknown seems to have had huge impact and led to this for Robins

Seems it was board led from other stuff I’ve read. But perhaps based upon that collective feedback. Team have definitely gone backwards anyhow. If him and Robins link up at the next place I’d see them doing a good job however.

Probably thinking that after reinvesting all of the Gyorkeres & Hamer proceeds (and then some) back into the squad over the past 18 months they are looking for a return on investment and that if they don't get one its a huge chunk of money that needs to be underwritten in transfer instalments over the next few years. If he ended up as manager at Carrow Road I’d still be happy enough with the appointment. Depending of course what happens between now and whenever that were to occur. Clearly we’re not going to be his next club. But I doubt he’ll be out of work for long. He’ll probably end up at Hull or such like in Jan.

Can't have helped matters. Four home defeats already this season, 20th in the home form table. Done a bit better away from home, 14th in home form table. We of course were one of those defeats. He whinges a lot as well doesn't he, definitely a whinger. Maybe looking for somebody more positive.
Capt. Pants 5,138 Posted November 7, 2024 I'm not surprised. The problem with Robins is he never gets off to a good start and the season is finished for it's started. Ultimately he hasn't delivered and it's right for them to do something different.
