Perhaps if you had all acted a bit more like Donald Trump and shown respect to others and their opinions, Then this wouldn’t have happened. Just a thought.

Where are we going to get comedy like this now? Won't somebody think of the non-footballers!!

With respect, KC, it’s not a couple of individual posters. It is a long-running trend on that section of the message board. I don’t mind the political discussions as long as they are civil and in good taste - sadly too often, they are neither. That has been fuelled by both the recent elections. Ultimately, this is a football board at its core - and so it’s a decision to strip the board back to that. I wish it wasn’t the case, but we cannot allow the general downturn of behaviour to continue. I don’t want to be banning people constantly, that’s not how I want to spend my day!

You’re right. I’m clearly juggling this with other work - but I should be able to do that without all hell breaking loose. There are other options, but this is the one we’ve decided is the best one for the minute for the reasons outlined above. I recognise it might not be one that everyone agrees with, but let’s try it and see how it goes.

It will all spill onto here now, instead.

Afternoon guys.

Thanks for your responses, positive and negative. They are appreciated and I know it’s never going to be an approach agreed by everyone. That’s absolutely understandable and also okay!

To be clear, those conversations about music (currently a very good thread in that section and I’m sorry it’s been caught up in this) are still ones that can happen. I hope the main thread can still facilitate some of those conversations.

I don’t particularly mind the political chat, either. But it’s gone too far and we’ve seen an increase in reports, complaints and bad behaviour in those threads specifically (not to say they don’t happen in other threads), especially around both the elections. I know feelings are high, but this message board is primarily a place for football and that section wasn’t created as a political hub in the first place. As highlighted above, clearly we have to be conscious of stuff that gets published on here as well as a news organisation. But that’s not the primary driver, to be clear, it’s about user behaviour.

Finally, some valid points on moderation. I hear you all on that front. It’s a difficult area as whatever approach we take won’t please everyone, but I’ve tried to take a lighter approach. I try to adopt a three strikes and off policy, but that differs on a case to case basis depending on the severity of the issue. You don’t really want to hear from us constantly on this channel (that’s what the main site is for!). This is a place for you.

I’m more than happy to take questions and my DM channel is always open.

Thanks for your continued support.

Is that the same Donald Trump that drew us out to play Spurs away in the Rumbelows cup that we lost 2-1 in?

Ok new plan.

Make @Worthy Nigelton a moderator.

Make me a moderator.

@Worthy Nigelton can delete every pro-Mclean post and ban the offender.

I can delete every anti-Mclean post and ban the offender.

Admittedly, me and @Worthy Nigelton will have to ban each other, but the end result should be a pretty peaceful forum.

Not least because there'll be no-one left. No real football fan has a "balanced" view on our Kenny.

The author should have written 'Donald Duck' instead to circumvent the new rules. That was a little like Tyrone Mings indiscretion this week.

That’s him. Always came across as a really decent fella. Kind, generous, respectful, Always prepared to help those poorer than him, hence the fixing of that away draw for a decent payday for us.

I like it as it is. To visit the Pink Un Forum and read about Norwich and other things with Norwich fans. A lot of the time there's not as much doing on with Norwich so non-football can help pass the time. Strangely I don't feel like finding a stand alone "non-football" forum elsewhere. I come for Norwich and I stick around to enjoy the other things. The variety of things that get discussed in there with humour and insight can be very enjoyable.

@Feedthewolf - New forum time.

The 'new forum' was already set up by @hogesar a while back, when we weren't sure whether this site would survive at all.

@SouthwellC has clearly put a lot of his time and effort into maintaining a forum with hundreds of regular posters, not all of which are predisposed to 'playing nicely' – and, as has been said, this work is probably a frustrating diversion from trying to produce quality NCFC-related content.

There was never going to be a solution that suited everyone, but I'd certainly urge everyone to stay put, stay civil and see how things work out.

Moving to the new site and losing 20+ years of posting history is absolutely a last resort in my eyes.

I’m a huge fan of Vancouver blue noses new manager Ronald Dump. He looks a quality new manager and I have to agree with his opinion that all the dead wood needs to be cleared out. He’s one to keep an eye on and  I expect big things from mr Dump in the future.

Probably a controversial opinion; Keep non football but ban any and all political talk, nobody is going to get heated and screaming about music opinions, what biscuits they like or cars.. Or are they? 😉

Anyone who doesn't like shortbread smells, has no taste and should have the right to vote taken off them. 😉

And if anybody says a Ford Mustang is a crap car, I'll just tell Miss TGS and we'll see how she reacts.....

Me too, one of the good ‘uns. Of all the posters who contributed to Non-Football, you more than most tried hard to see both sides while clearly having strongly held beliefs. I’ll stop now before this starts to sound like an epitaph!

I think 20 years is a good run though!

And I feel the same about your stuff too - always forthright and often very amusing. You can be really succinct as well whereas I go on too much because I can't find the way to say it (old Occam is needed😄)

I can't do that stuff so well (did have a moment once or twice where I even impressed myself by thinking I had been really witty...but that is 2 out of 11000+ posts 😅).

I've liked the jazz recommendations too and a few are now on my regular playlists (thanks also to many others...Ron Obvious, Herman, Fenway Frank being just a few.

It seems maybe music can be retained? Let's face it it's one of the joys about being alive. Seriously. Not a day goes by when I'm not listening (and now composing again too after 30+ years).

Having no non-football is not the end of the world either - time for something else I reckon...and if there's something ahead apart from just football where I think I might have something to add, I will.

Will see how the forum plays out in this new 'era'. A big change for a few people but the majority who post do so in the main Norwich City arena. So, probably it makes sense to look after the majority when I reflect, on balance. You can understand and still not necessarily agree.

I do post in the Non-football section although I try to avoid the political threads.

I understand Connor's reasoning but feel it is a bit heavy handed to simply close the whole section.

At times, the Football/NCFC section is tedious and has little that invites any debate at all. There is a limit to how many times we can debate Kenny or whether player X is the best or worst to ever wear the shirt.

I hope this move is not the beginning of the end for the Pink Un forum as it is far and away the best available for City supporters to exchange views.

All the Best 👍

It’s a poor thought out decision. If problems have been obvious for a while why was nothing done.
