Kenny charged by the FA after the Middlesbrough game

Recommended Posts

Guess that means an extra game ban, which I am sure will please many in here. For what it’s worth I think he will be a huge miss

“The midfielder allegedly acted in an improper manner and/or used abusive and/or insulting words towards a match official around the 87th minute after being sent off.”

What happens if we appeal the red card and it’s upheld (unlikely IMHO)? He gets a ban for being right?

JHT just did the presser. No mention of any appeal. Discussion was more about who replaces Kenny and who will be the captain.

I can’t lip read but he did seem to be arguing with the referee in a forceful manner. He will be missed definitely.

A midfield without kenny and Nunez for period of time is disaster. Kenny should’ve known better refarding the verbals.

Club said yesterday that they won’t be appealing the red

Who will replace Kenny?  3 possible options,  Kenny been playing as defensive cover for CB's and breaking forward to assist attack.  So defensively minded options are Doyle who has reassured everyone as a LB he is a disaster, been responsible for at least 4 goals recently.  As CDM and played centrally he could do a job.  Fisher could be an option good defensively, distribution and loves a tackle and we have other options at RB.  Another could be Sorensen who was the CDM we hoped he would be but not given any evidence that he is.  Return from lengthy injury may delay his return.  Defensive options as replacement not so good going forward.

I don't think Cardiff will be a danger, but could be wrong.

Doyle as CDM for me. Too slow as a left back but excellent in progressing the ball and distribution. CDM looks a perfect position for him.

If you get sent off for "Use of offensive, insulting or abusive language" its normally an automatic two game suspension.

There is probably precedent set somewhere but if he is found guilty, which is likely, I wouldn't be surprised if its an extra one game ban on top of the three with one suspended if he does it again. Fingers crossed as he is already serving a three game ban they will just give him a tasty fine.

It takes a special sort of **** to include that in your match report. Anyone who isn't a pathetic piece of human detritus would watch that back and reflect and think whatever Kenny said was perfectly understandable given the context, but not these God complex narcissists getting back at the world for being dreadful athletes.

Nominative determinism in action, blokes clearly a total bell.

That’s not nominative determinism, that’s an aptronym.

Wonderful use of vocabulary and a bit of humour,  though I have to say I disagree with your argument.  Whie it is common place in football to abuse the referee, that doesn't make it right.  Try refereeing at grass roots level and see how you like kids or parents calling you a ****, or tell us how you react when you pop out for a beer and that happens...

The red was warranted, I wouldn't have a pop at kenny for doing his upmost for the team and over reaching a bit, but no need to verbally abuse the ref.  As for context, the heat of battle on a rugby field must be at least as intense, but by large players there can address the ref respectfully.

I imagine that'll mean he'll miss 5 games. Which is a big blow. While the sending off was a bit harsh and I understand his reaction, it's not very professional from such a senior player. Really, we shouldn't pay his wages for those additional two games as effectively he's now unable to work because of his own lack of self-control. (I guess though that we probably have to contractually, but that's quite galling when the figure would probably amount to what would be a good annual salary for many people.)

Seems disproportionate. Was merely a full blooded challenge in the spirit of a competitive game, no intent to harm whatsoever

Really?

The intent was definitely to foul him. McLean knew he wasn’t getting the ball, so took the man to prevent the break. Ears still ringing, probably, from Slimane’s HT bollocking from Thorup for not taking one for the team to prevent Boro’s second.

I’m not a huge McLean fan, but with Nunez he’s formed a very decent partnership. To lose both for the next 5 is a disaster and will almost certainly derail our good form.

We've drawn 3 in a row, shipping 6 goals. We're not on 'good form'.

I do ref grassroots level, and have never included any card I've given in my report.

It’s amazing all these talented managers don’t ever try the CB to CDM tactic.

Getting harshly sent off is one thing, gobbing off to an official is another. It's a bit dumb to say the least. He's supposed to be captain FFS.

So 3 games for the tackle, plus at least 1 for effing and jeffing depending on the content. Looks like 5 games out then.
