According to a podcast I was listening to they said Long has a 44% save ratio. That’s awful for a keeper.

Which podcast?

What’s a standard ratio?

Having a pint with my Blades friends yesterday and one of them nearly had a heart attack when I mentioned we have Long in goal at the moment. "He was **** at the Lane when we got rid of him, he never should have lasted this long in football, don't you want to get promoted?"

He's sh1t.

Millwall fans told us he was sh!t.

We signed him.

We realised they were right and he is sh!t.

And then he got a 3 year contract extension.

Continues to be sh!t.

So odd.

Absolutely this! If I was the opposition coming up against us at the minute I'd be shooting on sight, because with long in goal it's basically every other shot on target results in a goal.

The amount of times he lets the ball go straight through him, or poppadom wrists it when he does actually get a hand to it is criminal.

Surely got to give Archie Mair a go if Gunn isn't back for the next fixture.

Nobody would hold it against Archie Mair if he comes up short, it would just be nice to find out.

Great spirit. This team snd coach have something and will continue to get better.

Next few games with no Kenny and Nunez is a worry though.

Absolutely abysmal GK.

Yeah. All keepers save penalties, don’t they.  Not particularly at fault for any goal and kept us in it with several saves.

Maybe save your criticism for when it’s due rather than being a matter of course?  I’ve never ever said he’s a great keeper but I’ll always support him.

Should have done better with their first but more than made up for it during the game. Credit where credit is due

I don't think I agree. Yes, the penalty and a couple of other decent saves but the first goal is crucial. When you look at the three games you can't really argue with the fact that the keeper has cost us points in each of them. We could have been looking at 3 wins in an ideal world but it's criminal not to have won any of them. Long is definitely the weak link.

You hateful clown.

Sure he was at fault for their first goal, but a couple of good saves and was unlucky with a rebound and then saves a penalty that keeps us in the game.

You might need to focus on our pathetic defending.

It was a poor penalty, but credit were credits due. It atoned for the goal he gave away. Would you agree with that?

It was a poor penalty at Preston and he got pelters for not saving it. He can't do right really, yet Doyle gets blame free for a horrendous first half.

IMO this is just a ridiculously over-simplified and self-defeating argument. Football is a team sport. You can argue Gunn would have done better, but Long has been left repeatedly exposed in the last two games by absolutely appalling defending.

I'm pretty sure every professional keeper has saved at least one penalty.

I'm not 100% sure but I think Doyle was left overloaded repeatedly. I think our midfield system was more to blame than either of our fullbacks who were exposed.

Basically Sainz is given a free role so the midfield 3 need to be covering for his absence. They frequently fail to do so.

Long IS a weak link but the penalty save is as good as a goal and he made some excellent saves.

I didn't see the Preston game, though definitely cost us the points in the 1-1

Made three excellent saves today, not including the penalty save which changed the momentum of the match. Could have done better with the first, as could Boro’s keeper with our third. Looked more assured today to my eyes anyway.
