Satriales 1,049 Posted October 16, 2024 USA lost 2 nil to Mexico last night. Sarge was subbed on 63 minutes. Saw a lot of comments online with fans criticising him for the past two games. Seems to have lost his mojo a bit since the injury.
Capt. Pants 5,151 Posted October 16, 2024 USMNT seem to be taking some pretty crap form into their own World Cup and it's just as well they don't have to qualify. Sarge is doing a lot of what some on here expected; struggle at a higher level. It doesn't bother me unless he feels he needs to move on from us to get that experience. Since his injury he’s had an unbelievable scoring record, and in the last couple of games he’s looked fit and on it. I’d say if anything, he’s got his mojo back and some.
hogesar 10,935 Posted October 16, 2024 The US fans haven't liked him long before the last two games. But they're hardly recognised for their excellent football knowledge.
NWC 328 Posted October 16, 2024 With all respect to the USMNT, I'm guessing the coaching and facilities will be substandard to what he is use to here. Sarge is a team player - I believe he loves his Norwich City team - you can tell what it means when he records an assist. International football is typically suited to the individual players, not the team in my opinion.

shefcanary 3,074 Posted October 16, 2024 Apparently he made only 13 touches - sounds more like his team mates weren't trying to find him.
cambridgeshire canary 7,915 Posted October 16, 2024 (edited) The US team has always been rather poor. I wouldn't say its Sargent playing badly and more the team in general just not being that great. Edited October 16, 2024 by cambridgeshire canary

Bethnal Yellow and Green 2,486 Posted October 16, 2024 Sargent has never played well for the USA, and as he has played all his senior career in Europe, he isn't a player the average MLS fan has seen play much. The US have a really good crop of young players coming through, and their youth coaching is of a very high level. Unfortunately, the MLS is of a really mixed level and the college sports system doesn't really help as many players won't join professional teams until they are in their 20s. Things are improving though, and if the US ever really sorts itself out, then they will become a huge force in international soccer. Can see things really snowball for them development wise if they can convince more of their top athletes to go into soccer, over football or other sports. Like all sports in America, the facilities they have are of a ridiculously high level, the coaching is fast improving to match as well.
Ulfotto 828 Posted October 16, 2024 Isn’t Mauricio Pochettino the US manager now. I guess the fans will expect great things going into the World Cup.

Given their population size and obsession with trying to win everything they really haven't pushed on since the last time they hosted the World Cup. Huge untapped potential. I've no idea if Sarge is the answer or not but rather feel at this point in time he isn't a prolific International striker and probably won't ever be at the level he plays at. I don't think they are obsessed with trying to win men's football. For the majority of them, it's a game for kids and women.

Ward 3 497 Posted October 19, 2024 The us see Christian Pulisic as the best man to ever grace football.. he's bang average, goes to show what little they know about football. They even call it the wrong sport

You might be surprised (talking about any MLS team here, not the league(s) below). Obviously the more famous names in the league; LA Galaxy, New York Red Bulls, Inter Miami, etc. have great facilities but even the smaller teams like Chicago Fire, Nashville SC either have/or are opening in the very near future, superb training facilities that are at least on par with what we have at Norwich.
