dylanisabaddog 6,147 Posted October 14 Getting on my nerves already. 2 weekends lost and another coming in 4 weeks. Is there something the club could do? Maybe an Under 21 game against a big London club. Or Ipswich? Or perhaps ask the FA to 'fiddle' the non league fixtures so that Carrow Road could host something like Wroxham v Gorleston. Better still, scrap the Nations League and all international friendlies.
Capt. Pants 5,013 Posted October 14 I like watching International matches and they were a welcome distraction with some of the dross served up by NCFC. Some are attracting huge crowds; sellout in Helsinki last night, same for the Irish game away, 70,000 odd at Wembley for both home games. I thought the idea was fans should watch grassroots football, or similar? Tbh it's been nice to have a free Saturday without ridiculous kick-off times. Risk of players getting injured. He said they keep working, but frustrating having a much smaller pool of players to work with. Speaking as a fan, it's so boring. Can't wait to watch NCFC again! nutty nigel 7,902 Posted October 14 These weekends are boring. My grandson thinks that too so at least it’s not me being an old duffer! Going to support Norwich is something you do. England is something you watch. Back in the day it was played midweek with no break in the league programme. Unless it was a big game we could just watch the highlights on ‘Sports night with Coleman’. How good would that be now!

I use the international weekends to get down to either Hallam FC or Sheffield FC. And I get to meet many people who have been, and some who still are very much involved, in football at its highest level. Oh, and see Wilder getting pissed as usual which always guarantees some fun! 😉

There are always other options, you can’t replace going to do something by watching something else on TV. If I didn’t have a season ticket I doubt I’d watch it on TV. Had enough of that during the pandemic. On Saturday I went up the City.
lake district canary 4,830 Posted October 14 (edited) The way football is run, it's amazing we get any decent football at all. Stupid timing of transfer windows, ridiculous international schedules and the loads on players. VAR doing it's best to ruin football at the top level, officials plainly not as good as they ought to be, players cheating, feigning fouls and injuries etc etc. Putting on matches at awkward times just adds to the overall mayhem. I really miss the routine of the 3.00 mass kick off times. For those that can't remember what that was like, it was special - a sacrosanct time for football supporters everywhere. Even though you were only watching your team, you knew that 91 other clubs and all their fans were playing at the same time. Special times. Times change, I know, but change isn't always for the better, especially when the reason for that change is motivated by greed to make more and more money at the expense of the people the game is supposed to be for - the fans. Depends how much you have in your life than watching football on TV I guess. Fortunately I have other challenges and past-times. I feel perfectly normal doing other things and look forward to our next match at FCR (although it fcuks up my Sunday routine). I don’t watch anyone otherthan Norwich and England. Although Scotland were on in the background on Sunday. Absolutely terrible game. Next summer will be a challenge though with no World Cup of Euros.

A busy life with work, family and leisure. Football is a delightful distraction but only at domestic level. International football for me is boring and insignificant. Everyone to their own but I’m sure the majority hate these largely and on the whole unnecessary breaks.
Mason 47 1,925 Posted October 14 When I was a lot younger, international breaks were quite exciting as a break from the norm. Not so much anymore. The Nations League in particular seems a simple, cynical way to repackage and resell international friendlies. The commentators seemed very keen to stress England 'need' to be in League A but for the life of me I can't understand why. I think it's also symptomatic of 24/7 football as a whole. We've barely had a clean break since the previous summer and now Sky seem to be doing their best to have a game kick off every 90 minutes, lest the consumers miss a moment of advertising.
Taylor324 36 Posted October 14 I have zero interest in International football, I couldn't even tell you who England are playing or even if they are playing at all The International breaks are tedious and unnecessary It's bit like wanting to get off with your missus and the in-laws come to stay and ruin a complete weekend
