TheGunnShow 7,377 Posted October 11 Fair play to their captain, Max Arnold, if that's what he said. It's just a silly thing to get wound up about - as I've said before it takes a special brand of snowflake to get wound up at a perfectly normal sexual orientation. Doesn't need a sacking or witch-hunt, just remind him of his responsibilities.

Newtopia 573 Posted October 11 Great example of free speech in action. He is free to say what he wants, his employer is free to punish him, and everyone else is able to assess if they think he is scum / entitled to his opinion but clearly not a 'nice guy' / entitled to his opinion and spot on / a warrior for the opposed heterosexuals/down trodden males.

Exactly, far too many people conflate "freedom of speech" with "freedom of consequences" of said speech. You can shout "bomb" at airport security if you wish, just good luck. You can pass on false information if you like, but someone will call it out. And if you state a completely unsubstantiated belief then fine, but it should indeed be pointed out as such. That's what happened here.
spencer 1970 214 Posted October 11 scarily following the growing far-right wing view that much of the planet is moving towards. The mugs are getting mugged up by rightwaing media who's billionare owners are deflecting the ills of this world onto minorities. fik knuts.

Michael Starr 571 Posted October 12 and his sister is married to convicted rapist Steven van de Velde. So something very wrong with that family.
Fen Canary 1,456 Posted October 12 Sounds like sense has prevailed all round. The player hasn’t been forced to do something he doesn’t want to do, those who disagree with him are able to criticise his decision. Nobody has been cancelled or lost their livelihood, and St Pauli have been able to engage in their usual pretentious posturing on social media. Everybody wins! I suppose there is an argument that there are members of LGB who object to being group with the TQ+, and object to having their sexual orientation see them shoved in the same box as people with gender dysphoria. That said, he specifically said "gay sh!t", so yeah, what a wally.

TheGunnShow 7,377 Posted October 21 (edited) Meanwhile, when Wolfsburg got beat by Werder Bremen, the Wolfsburg fans made one thing rather clear. "Whether Daniela or Kevin, Behrens, shut your mouth!" (Daniela Behrens is a politician in Lower Saxony, where Wolfsburg is located). Edited October 21 by TheGunnShow
