Capt. Pants 4,973 Posted October 5 1 hour ago, Drazen Muzinic said: Kamara looked excellent in those twenty or so minutes he got. Threatened Fisher and got in half a dozen decent crosses and passes. Hoff had to bring Stacey on to snuff out some of that threat. Saying that, I am disappointed we didn't sing "It could've been you..." Sammy Clingan-style at him when Gordon scored the fourth... Er we did. Kamara would struggle to make the bench here. Arguably he only had a bit of the ball when Stacey came on and was pushing up the pitch. Just a greedy git who thought the grass was greener elsewhere. Hull fans didn't even recognise he was on the pitch.
HertsCanary93 223 Posted October 5 Thought he played well when he came on. The cross for the disallowed goal was a beauty. That said, definitely would be struggling for minutes here - so I do understand the move. However, with the way he went about securing the move - he can't have been too surprised about getting some stick.

The only other option he had was to be quiet and risk losing momentum from last season, or making a noise to get the move I guess? It's a tricky one really. I thought he came over to the other side of the Barclay at the end but I don't know if he clapped or made any kind of signals as I couldn't quite see? Kamara took a lot of stick which was understandable but fair play to him at the end. He went to the Hull fans and applauded them and then did the same to the Barclay. He looked very sharp when he came on and will get a regular starting place if he can keep his head down and show that form.

He would have definitely been part of the first team here and would have got opportunities to play and I’m sure if he performed well he would have stayed in the team. I completely agree. He screwed up and backed the wrong horse, but I'm glad we dealt with it quickly and got him out when he acted up. I love how Ben / JHT didn’t take any nonsense and handled it the right way.
Drazen Muzinic 1,499 Posted October 5 Ok ok, I've been dragged because I didn't hear ICBY in the blankets at the top of the River End. And I'm getting on a bit. However I still stand by the notion he did have the beating of Fisher more than a couple times and, irrespective of whatever Hoff's usual changes maybe, he influenced the timing of those changes today. Opinions are like ar5eholes. Everybody has one and today mine seems to stink😏

Real shame he left as he would have had more than his fair share of minutes. Ah well, that's football. Being the best player for a side battered by 4 doesn't say much, who does he get in for in our 20? We stole 4 and a half million off them

Deptford Yellow 294 Posted October 5 Connor Southwell suggesting some of the stick he got at the end was OTT … can anyone elucidate ?
Jason Shackell’s Limp Tack 134 Posted October 5 Clearly, badly advised from an agent who will always profit from any move. Wonder what Pompey fans will think of his badge kissing now. Yes, he looked half decent enough when he came on but I'm not thinking that's one that got away. I do feel that he might have picked up a bit of the vitriol that Jonny Rowe would have got. Really just that he came over to the away fans to clap and did a little bit of the Barclay, but the home fans continued with & upped the goading. I think he's probably a little unlucky, in that he was probably paying a lot of Jonathon Rowe's tab in terms of transfer betrayal. I suppose you could say Hull were roundly beaten and we could have wound it down a bit. Though, there is an irony that his replacement scored his first goal for us today, in a game Kamara would likely have played an equal of not greater part in. He's young, he's ambitious, whatever the case, he wanted greener pastures and that doesn't get forgotten lightly. Part and parcel, move on.

To borrow a quote from Sebastien Bassong "Are we supposed to know who you are?" Played a few minutes for us, completely irrelevant. My prediction is that he'll have a decent long career in the Championship like Korey Smith, Chris Martin, but during that long Championship career he'll watch us have 3 or 4 years in the Premier League, and realise that staying here would have been the key to getting a taste of football at the very top level.
horsefly 5,301 Posted October 6 He had an excellent season at Portsmouth and probably thought that made him a shoe-in for a starting place at City. However, his performance in the pre-season games was very poor. I have no idea what his performance was like in training, but what seems to be true about JHT is that if you impress him in training you will get your chance (Fisher being a very obvious example). Clearly Kamara didn't impress enough to start, and it seems he wasn't willing to fight for a place. Seems a shame given the investment the club put into him, but in my mind there's no doubt it was right to sell him given his attitude and the £5m fee on offer. The current squad looks imbued with a great team spirit, which seems to be a major component in JHT's coaching methodology. I suspect he doesn't want anyone around who does not buy into the importance of the unity of that team spirit.

These things are non-zero-sum. He was on absolute peanuts here and (totally reasonably) looked to get a move so that he could pocket a decent signing on fee and likely increase his wages five fold. Even if he plays fewer minutes for Hull than he might have here, it's a win for him and a win for us. Sure, you can question the manner of his departure, but it can hardly be considered a bad move from anyone's point of view.
