Marcondes signed - official

Recommended Posts

One year with an option for another - per the official site (don’t seem to be able to paste link); taking the no11 shirt.  He has apparently been training with us for a few days and has signed in time to be able to play tomorrow (my guess is we’ll see him off the bench)

Just found out he's half Brazillian. Half Danish half Brazillian.. Interesting mix

Knowing our luck he’ll have the cool temperament of a South American and the skilful flair of a Scandinavian

Has both top end Champ experience and has worked with JHT before. Really interested to see how he settles into the squad. Could be a very shrewd addition.

Adam Forshaw had top end Champ experience. That said, I see him as low risk and worth a punt.

The Forshaw signing felt a bit weird because he was a Farke cast off.

When you have a smaller budget than the parachute teams, you have to see the positives.

It's an interesting one for the discussion elsewhere RE comparisons to last season. It feels much more like a last-season signing than this; in fact, very easy comparions can be drawn between Marcondes signing and Fassnacht signing under Wagner. Arguably you could say Fasi's pedigree is objectively higher too, so interesting to see the general reaction to Marcondes.

First all the Germans, then the Huddersfield connection, and now the invasion of the Danes. Whatever next?

Wisdom and Tebbit? I thought we were trying to lower the age of the squad!?

From the horses mouth at the start of one of his youtube vids:

Looks like Onel has got competition! haha.

Maybe trying to lower age profile, if injuries jeopardise your progress.  Something needs to be done, Thorup knows him and feels he can do a job.  That is good enough for me.  Goal scoring debut would be nice.

Is this a first for us I.e signing an out on contract player well beyond the transfer window?

A short term deal but he should be well rested as he's only played 50 odd games since 2019, according to Wiki.
