Lewis DW 30 Posted October 2 (edited) Just a quick appreciation post for the player Kellen Fisher is becoming. Switching from right to left back in the second half against Leeds, without fault, if anything he stepped up and his performance in 2nd half was better than the first half. Decent defending, tracking back and mazy runs forward- at times he reminds me of Drury and others he goes full Huckerby. An exciting player, with a good attitude and a promising future ahead of him. A top signing by the recruitment team. Edited October 2 by Lewis DW
Satriales 990 Posted October 2 He seems to enjoy a tough sliding tackle as well. Doesn't really look the type but he's obviously got some grit.
daz 131 Posted October 2 Thought he looked (and is tbf) quite lightweight, but he's awesome! So much more assured and a footballer than Stacey, soon as Stacey came on 2nd half I thought noooo! Against they attackers.

Sorry, I don’t normally comment on spelling etc, but your use of ‘apprehension’ means the opposite of what I think you are saying.( It basically means you’re unsure about him). I think you mean appreciation and I fully agree.
Richard Richard 191 Posted October 2 Was going to post something very similar. He reminds me very much of Ian Culverhouse in his prime. I think he's got the potential to be the best full back we've had for a very long time. Composed on the ball, not afraid of a tackle and good positional sense. Can pick out a pass and run with the ball. Excellent start to the season.
Mello Yello 2,555 Posted October 2 Very impressed by young Fisher....He was my MotM last night....Ran his socks off and even in the last 15 minutes and tiring, he was still giving his all.....Good Lad....
AJ 1,357 Posted October 2 I'd say he's a much better footballer than Aaron's, Lewis and Bali. Great recruitment and boy has he progressed this season. Doesn't look anything special, and also looks about 12 but was easily one of the best players in each of our last three teams. Said in another thread, must be one of the first names on the team sheet right now, fair play to the lad for really stepping up
......and Smith must score. 1,587 Posted October 2 18 minutes ago, Commonsense said: Sorry, I don’t normally comment on spelling etc, but your use of ‘apprehension’ means the opposite of what I think you are saying.( It basically means you’re unsure about him). Capt. Pants 4,974 Posted October 2 It was another superb performance from the lad and I thought better at LB than Doyle was as well (who looks like a CB out of position). I just hope NCFC can progress as fast as he is, otherwise he won't be here long. Fantastic find by Webber and Co and credit to Thorup for giving him the chance.
hogesar 10,717 Posted October 2 Terrific non-league find. Certainly seems to suit what Thorup want's his FB to do as well.
Scrivvy 49 Posted October 2 German Bight, Humber, Thames Yes, he's been brilliant. Sometimes scares me with the off-the-feet tackling. If my son's reading this - I told you so last season.
Feedthewolf 5,885 Posted October 2 (edited) I was hugely impressed with him last night. When he played last season he looked a little bit green, plenty of commitment but plenty of naivety alongside it. I agree that he was even better at LB than at RB – one thing that was clearly part of our tactical setup last night was for the full-backs to play very narrow out of possession, allowing Leeds space out wide to ensure more solidity in the central areas. Fisher's reading of the game was outstanding, and he covered behind the centre-backs impeccably and made numerous important tackles and interceptions. I would still sound a cautionary note that this is his first run of starts, so we shouldn't get too carried away and place too much expectation on his shoulders – but from what we've seen in the past three games, the lad clearly has a very high ceiling. Something else to factor in here is Thorup's coaching – I recall there being a lot of discussion last season about how none of the players seemed to have developed at all under Wagner, and others had gone completely backwards. It's early days, but I feel the opposite may be true of Thorup. Fisher looks to have developed a lot in a short time under Thorup – he was even utilised in central midfield during pre-season, which speaks volumes for Thorup's belief in Kellen's versatility (and his belief in the importance of versatility in general). Meanwhile, Duffy looks a lot more solid than he did last season, Nunez seems to have been transformed and is playing his best football in a Norwich shirt, Sainz has gotten even better, Forsyth, Myles and Hills have all been given first-team action… I think the biggest challenge right now is not to get too giddy and expect too much too quickly. Midlands Yellow 4,682 Posted October 2 Reminding me of Aarons bursting on the scene. Potential to be superior too as Max never reached the level we hoped for.
hairpie 9 Posted October 2 (edited) Kellen Fisher he was so brave going all in on tackles, leaving other players hobling. can't remember a better defensive display from a young player. The way he seems to love going for balls that he is not favourite to get, reminds me of Big Dunc. I would pay just to watch him play like that, really enjoyable. I'm impressed with the physical side of this team a few players who can mix it as well as the technical players. Edited October 2 by hairpie spelling
Old Shuck 291 Posted October 2 He's an emerging star isn't he? Lovely story too, signed from non-league. Agree that we shouldn't get too excited just yet but, crucially, neither will he or the coaching staff around him be either. Feet on ground, keep working, keep learning etc. Fisher is symbolic of the side and squad for me at the moment-emerging from the murk, looking very good indeed at times, looking capable, as well, of giving a few teams an absolute tonking if and when we are all 'at it' -but just as likely to have the off day to end all off days and still be on the end of a few ourselves. It's fun. Isn't football meant to be that?
TheGunnShow 7,363 Posted October 2 (edited) A full-back's primary job is to leave his mark on the opposing winger. If he can faff with the ball / has a good engine then even better. Fisher's got the balance right. As a wing-back (when playing eleven-a-side) who likes a thumping slide tackle from the side that takes ball first and leaves the man hobbling/on the floor I was loving some of those hits. Just pump one in the dugout and that's a fast track to cult hero status. Edited October 2 by TheGunnShow

Ulfotto 793 Posted October 2 Lots of hyperbole in this thread it’s a handful of games. Yes he’s looked good. And like he’s improved from last year but at times last year he looked incredible lightweight. Still think if I were an opposition manager I would definitely target our right back and right centre back as the area to attack. Most of Leeds attacks particularly in the first half came down the left. I appreciate everyone wants to get behind the Thorup regime but to me apart from Doyle the main stays of the team are still the players left over from last year I.e Gunn, Duffy, Sargent, Sainz, Nunez and Kenny. Can I also make another point that last summer transfer window where we secured Sainz, Fisher, Duffy, Barnes and Stacey is looking better and better each day. Creedence Clearwater Couto 1,611 Posted October 2 Absolute baller, with a style of play and tenacity more common to 80s and 90s football! So refreshing to see a player execute to perfection the dying art of a slide tackle.

I recall an article where he said his "face doesn't fit here anymore." 30 years on but it still hurts how our best ever team was taken apart.
mastoola 203 Posted October 2 What i find inspiring is that we picked him up from Bromley. It shows that you dont need to be signed to a massive academy if you have the talent.
