Pink Un social club?

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

I've been thinking that something has really been missing from this forum since the PUPs league sadly ran its course.

I was just wondering what people thought about posters potentially getting together 'in real life' and doing some fundraising for the CSF while getting to know each other and building friendships around our mutual love of NCFC?

An easy idea would be to just meet up after a home match in a pub somewhere and possibly doing some kind of pub/sports quiz to raise money? I did reach out to @nutty nigel about the possibility of taking over the PUPs league, but it was just too much of a time commitment.

Another idea would just be that people do their own £5/£10 acca with a bookie of their choice, and if they win then they transfer the money directly to the CSF? We could have a pinned thread and just decide 'ad hoc' each week which poster would be up for doing it.

Or what about posters meeting up for U21 and/or women's team matches and running a little sweepstake on first goalscorer? I remember they used to do this on coach trips to away matches back in the 90s, not sure if that still happens.

Would anyone else here be interested in anything like this? Or any other ideas about what we might be able to do? Who knows, it might even make people a bit nicer to each other on here... 🙂

Nice one Wolfie.

Something I thought about after we chatted - it’s beyond my capabilities but would it be possible to set up some sort of ‘just giving page’. Something like ‘PUPS for the CSF.’ The total would always be visible and each addition there for all to see like with the totals graphic I used to do. I’m sure Emma could help with that.

I could easily do that, I've managed JustGiving pages before. Let's see if there's any appetite for it from the wider forum... even if in-person events don't get much traction, I think we could easily get 40 or so people per season to spend a fiver of their own money on an acca and pay the winnings into the fundraiser if it came in.

I still see a fair few PUPs in the Lion and Castle after games.

Sounds good

Definitely something in this - it’s always tricky for longer distance supporters but pre-or-post-game should be doable, either from or whilst waiting for the train!

RE: other bits and bobs, a just giving page sounds a good idea.

What a cracking idea if only a meet after the game for posters to get to know each other

Would it be just you attending, or all your alter egos too? Need a rough idea of numbers so I can decide on a venue... 😉

Sorry to hear that the PUPs league is no more and sincere thanks to Nutty for everything you did over the years!

Super idea, can't be there in person as I'm 200 miles away normally, and half the continent away when I emigrate, but just coming into the thread to state how laudable I think this is.

Might be difficult for some of our posters with multiple user-names to remember to maintain the right character!

I only have one and I struggle to remember what. Doing half the time...

Post game quiz at the lion and castle at some point? I don't know how long they stay open but. Sure they'd let us stay there for a quiz if it was a charity thing. And they were selling us overpriced food and drink!

I’ll be doing a DJ Disco in Wakefield next Friday if everyone fancies it. Feel free to pop in, I’ll even put Samba de Janeiro on as we approach the final hour.

So if we don’t all come, you’re not going to do it? 🤔😉

That's a great idea, actually. I might drop Elliot an email and see if we could do something before the end of the season. Or alternatively, maybe do something in conjunction with @Norwich City Fans Social Club? I doubt we'd come close to filling the capacity of the L&C just with posters from here!

You could ask someone to bring in his log book of gripes, that'd  alleviate  any worries about filling a void.
