Shakespeare tucked himself away in a little cottage up in Stratford. What did he know? Partaking in high culture probably accounts for less than 1% of the UK population.

Don't forget the people standing at the Royal Albert Hall for the Last Night of the Proms. Patriots to the core, not a Socialist in sight.

Should never be going back to standing anyway. It is an anachronism and should have been left in the past out of respect to the Hillsborough victims. Seating is better, safer and more civilised. You don't go to the theatre to stand up and the ancient Greeks never envisaged standing so I don't see why you should want to stand. Only yobbos would want to do so as it feeds into their yobbo behaviour.

Completely agree, standing at football. IS. A. DISGRACE. (took that from one of our pre-eminent Norfolk politicians).

Rather than 'safe' standing, why aren't we introducing food and drink service to your seat, and those funny little binoculars you used to be able to get at the Theatre Royal?

All I know is whatever contractor undertook the work, I think they made an absolute fortune. Workmanship and materials are uhh....considerably average.

Safe standing is a great idea. Implementing it in once the season has started when fans have already bought their seats is just stupid. Close season is the time to do something like that - not forcing people to shift to worse seats to make way for it. Just another example of corporate malaise that so much of business suffers from - just doing what they want when they want, regardless of their customers.

Somebody will be along to lay the blame for this squarely on the shoulders of a highly paid female executive director don't you think @GMF ?

However this is poor form by the club.

I have to say that communication from the club re safe standing in the Thorpe Area has been very poor from the start.............

People are missing the big picture here. The shoddy, on-the-cheap nature of the installation is clearly a sign that the dilapidated old City stand is soon to be upgraded courtesy of the Attanasios. No point wasting money on doing it properly when the whole thing is going to be replaced in eighteen months or so. Hopefully they'll pull the Barclay down too and replace it with a Dortmund style Yellow Wall of uninterrupted safe standing (with all the current Barclay corporate stuff relocated to the new Delia and Michael Main Stand). To finish it off, in the centre of the new Barclay should be a sort of cockpit where the drummer can go, with acoustic baffles all round him to project the sound out onto the pitch.

All hail our new overlords.

Back in January 2017 a survey of Liverpool fans showed that 83% supported safe standing at their ground.

So your comment about respecting the Hillsborough victims has no relevance.

You might be on to something here. Piiss off as many of the City Stand season ticket holders as possible to encourage them either to relocate to the South Stand or not to renew, leaving it easier to relocate the rump and crack on with the demolition and re-build.

Some people don't want to stand which is why they bought a seat.

@Nik Vawnwhere exactly are you in the ground? Surely this isn't the whole of the Thorpe section? Screenshot_20240930_133459_Opera.thumb.jpg.fbd405abb6c77cd0c71530df0bec2194.jpg

The club need to update this as the Thorpe Corner does not stop where it is shown on the plan. When safe standing was first mooted we did not think we would be affected as we looked at this plan, which suggested to us only the Snakepit corner would be affected...........

You've heard of lies, damn lies and statistics?

The boy Forson was recruited on the basis of stats, but all of it overlooked that he was four foot tall and eight stone.

Thanks for that, it’s not so much me but my Mrs. she isn’t very tall and if people in front chose to stand, which they will be fully entitled to do, then she ain’t going to see much even if she stands herself.

I am in lower Barclay, I don't think the club put much effort into facilitating than change either. I understand people wanting to stand, but like you, my partner is short too, but all we were offered as alternatives were two seat right at the back in the corner of Upper Barclay. There are probably people in Upper Barclay that would like to swap  but the club made no effort to organise anything like that!

Would explain why our rails weren't finished off during the close season or during the international break.......unless the intention was to make all of the Thorpe Area safe standing...........

Not sure if that was done deliberately but well done if it was 😀

In any event there is nowhere else for my "rump and crack to be relocated"!!

When first announced, I'm certain that NCFC said that it would be new Ferco rail seats installed, not just some glorified yellow painted scaffold poles.

Perhaps no need. It seems I am no longer ahead of the game, everyone else is catching up.

If the Main Stand is renamed from being The Geoffrey Watling City Stand it will be a travesty.

I hate all this community club nonsense. It is just socialist claptrap. We should be aiming for much higher things, tangible objects made of silver, the Santiago Bernabeu stadium et al.

I’ve never read a more ridiculous post. And I remember 1st Wiz. Often have a fair amount of sympathy with your views, but you’re completely out of touch on this.

Not a problem…..unless someone is hitting it with a big mallet !!!

What about asking if you can be moved to the front of the seated section and your rail seat unlocked?
