Carrow89 110 Posted September 5 Not really, but it does make for an eye catching headline Villa are jacking up their prices for Champions League games "Most supporters are faced with paying between £70 and £97 per home game when the competition returns this month - a £55 ticket in the cheapest price bracket will become £85 for a non-season-ticket-holding adult" Compare that with "tickets for away fans at Champions League games cannot exceed €60, a figure that will be reduced to €50 next season." So the question comes down to whether you think Villa are exploiting their supporters, or merely charging 'what the market will bear'. The sentiment of the heart, against the practicalities of the head. https://www.theguardian.com/football/article/2024/sep/04/champions-league-aston-villa-ticket-prices-supporters-trust

Football fans really need to stick together on this, but are never going to because our tribal loyalties are more important to us than the game as a whole. All this stuff that affects match-going fans (KO times being moved, eye-watering ticket prices, VAFR) could all be challenged if fans were prepared to work together and, say, boycott games on a given day. But all we really want is three points at the weekend. (This is nothing personal against you, @BigManInTheBarclay - I used 'we' and 'our' deliberately. In one sense I don't care about Villa's prices either.)

Capt. Pants 4,792 Posted September 5 The same article also mentions Valencia will be using Dynamic Pricing..... "The disappointment around Villa’s decision comes during a week when the La Liga club Valencia confirmed they would adopt the highly controversial “dynamic pricing” model for home games." It's only a matter of time before Football essentially becomes a TV sport with half empty stadiums, fake fan noise and every game available as pay per view.
Well b back 3,573 Posted September 5 Where’s @essex canary when you need him ? If only he was a Villa fan he would be telling us Norwich would never shaft their fans like that. I work with lots of Villa supporters, who are up in arms. Whatever the article says for an adult season ticket holder the cheapest they tell me is £75, for a non season ticket holder it’s £87 in a few restricted view seats, then goes to either £94 or £97 I can’t remember exactly the price they were saying. In addition to have an even small chance of getting away tickets if they get to the knockouts, you will have to have been to all the home games, and at least 1/2 and possibly all the league away games. Commonsense 779 Posted September 5 Basically Villa have struck lucky in getting guaranteed crowd pullers in the shape of Bayern, Juventus and Celtic. I suspect they may be forced to rethink the price for Bologna!

Villa fans are fuming, the supporters trust is trying to rein these American's in but only action by the fans is going to stop them.
ged in the onion bag 954 Posted September 6 40 years they have waited for another shot at this competition and the club does this to its loyal fans. They are out of touch and couldn't give a toss! American owners!
