'away' membership pack

my 'away membership' pack (I tend to get to about 3-4 away games a season) arrived today, the club had kindly let me know they were running a bit late with these, and its great to receive it....but I've no idea what the wooden thing is?! I'm sure it's obvious, if anyone could let me know what it's for! the pin badge is nice, but the pack overall seemed pretty sparse...not even a letter to thank me for support etc etc. 😃

After many sleepless nights of eager anticipation my away membership pack finally arrived today too. Like the OP I’ve no idea what we’re meant to do with the two pieces of wood that slot together. Someone suggested it might be a stand for a mobile but there’s a hole which might be for a pen ? 

Needless to say there’s no explanation as to what it might be. Any suggestions ?

Thankfully a small green enamelled pin badge also enclosed needed less head scratching.

ah! ok....umm. not sure I need one of those, but its made of wood...which is nice. best thing I ever received in one of these packs was a charger with multiple leads, each a different type...I guess the 'hole' in the wooden contraption is for the charger lead to pop through? nice conundrum, cheers NCFC

Nice to know they give some slim picking gadgets for £22.50 whether environmentally friendly or otherwise. 

Not the case for Season Ticket Holders. They used to do it for larger shareholders

Glad someone knows what the two bits of wood are for as was beyond me.  Badge quite nice but overall a waste of money.  
Where’s the fixture list that I always stick on my kitchen cupboard???

I suspect McNally put an end to it to furnish his bonus. At least I have still got a travellers pack and a selection of ties. The latter has become idle tat especially as I don't get invited to the meetings to wear them.

Yes the charger with multiple leads is excellent and I still use mine regularly.

There was a previous thread in which someone pointed out the QR code on the inside of the box which gives you an explanation of how to assemble the two pieces of wood 😳

The packs have been very weird this year. Odd free gift, but no fixture/sales dates lists. I guess the reason for the latter is that so many fixtures will be rearranged that there's no point in sending them out, but I found the sales dates one very useful.

I wonder how many of us actually want these packs. I'd be very happy to tick a box to opt out when renewing my membership, does all seem a bit of a waste of money and resources to me if the club is trying to be more sustainable.

I remember getting a flag and a scarf some years ago. I think it was from a membership pack, either that or a season ticket gift.

 I still wear the scarf, best freebie I can remember.

Indeed. Then again they are being more sustainable in discouraging people from attending away matches.

Yeah, I'd be happy with an envelope with the fixtures/sales dates in and a letter detailing the benefits of membership. That could surely come before the start of the season...

This is what I received recently.

Will be okay until the notepad is gone, although I’m thinking about up-cycling the wooden covers into a hard hat - the shiny surfaces seem washable, so could be used as a defence mechanism against low flying pigeons in the South Stand, or upper Barclay… 😉

All the more reason for distributing to season ticket holders and home members. Pigeons resting on gantries is likely the main source of the problem rather than low flying and the club must reasonably know which seats are blighted.
