*official lappinitup match thread; Sky Blues V Canaries*

I missed the game today, but great to read many positive comments.

Always pleasing to beat Coventry for some reason. Perhaps Robins is bobbins after-all.

This could turn out a very interesting 'transition' season.

I think you may be missing some @PurpleCanary irony here

Irony? Heavens no! I have never come to terms with Norwich City actually trying to score from penalties, as opposed to following the moral example of the Corinthians and deliberately shooting wide of the goal.

I was working so didn’t see the game (and the w@nkers have banned radios on the site I’m on) but was this a deserved win or a bit of a smash and grab? The stats seem to imply we had a lot of the ball but didn’t really do much with it and scored with our only real chance, although I realise they can often be misleading

Bit of a ding-dong without a lot of clear chances, particularly in the first half. After the subs at HT we had much more control, grabbed the goal, and looked pretty solid against anything Cov could throw at us. All in all, I would say we were probably decent value for the win in quite an even game.

I think we have to look at it positively. I doubt many were predicting 4 points from the Blades and Coventry away after Oxford.

I've often mused on the possibility of players and former players posting under pseudonyms on this account.

Is that you, Daryl?

Robbie Savage has admitted that the first thing he did when signing for a new club was to join their forum under a pseudonym. He would then post glowing reports about himself. I've no idea what he posted after the 3-2 at Carrow Road 😂

That’s actually quite funny, makes me dislike him just a little bit less now.

Certainly not a smash & grab IMO, we were the better side but didn’t create as many chances as we should have done. At the other end there were very few nervy moments. A neutral might say a draw would have been fair but that we shaded it.

I didn't get to see the game, but I suspect this is probably the fairest summation. This analysis sounds the most in keeping with the comments on the match thread as the game played out.

Can we all just take a minute to pause and think how poor @Midlands Yellow must be feeling after his beloved Coventry lost 😢 😉

I guess you weren’t there? (Do you ever travel away?) A well deserved win and I enjoyed it.

I should imagine their supporters have accepted it and taken the defeat on the chin, as their late player then manager James Hill was wont to do.

However, no slouch was our Jimmy as this shows

" Hill became manager of Coventry City. His time at Coventry was marked by great changes to the club, nicknamed "The Sky Blue Revolution". He changed the home kit's colours to sky blue, coining the nickname "The Sky Blues". Alongside journalist and club director John Camkin, he also penned the club song "The Sky Blue Song", sung to the tune of the "Eton Boating Song".

Among his other innovations (many originally dismissed as "gimmicks" but later adopted by other clubs across Britain) were the first fully fledged match programme in English football, chartered trains to away games, regular "pop and crisps" parties where young fans could meet players and get autographs, the first "club call" line, souvenir merchandise made available through the post, and a variety of pre-match entertainment to encourage fans to arrive early.

His partnership with the chairman, Derrick Robins, also led to a redevelopment of the stadium, Highfield Road, with two new stands and extensive social facilities being built."
