yellowrider120 908 Posted August 24 2.40. Oh dear! Possibly the boy Wilder just winding us up but maybe he knows! Other than that a very honest, refreshing summary from him. He certainly respects us now (and has done for a while) since that infamous Battle of Bramall Lane in 2017!
Hairy Canary 746 Posted August 24 Certainly an odd thing for an opposition manager to say. Hopefully it is a wind up but bit of a worry!
CardiffCanary 163 Posted August 24 Hmmmmm Is he on the wind up ?
BigEars 29 Posted August 24 Very strange, but i cant think he would be deliberately winding fans up. It is more likely he has heard a rumour, im afraid.
Nik Vawn 344 Posted August 24 He is a bit of a **** though isn’t he
Grando 335 Posted August 24 I don’t see how he’d know this unless Sheffield U were buying Sarge - and that’s definitely not happening. I imagine he’s just s-stirring.
Ian 1,204 Posted August 24 Bit of an embarrassment really, he's meant to be a professional.
mastoola 203 Posted August 24 I think was responding to rumours but highlighting how good a player sarge is and sometimes you cant stop a good player.
Capt. Pants 4,974 Posted August 24 A 1000 words from Wilder. Don't think there was any wind-up or malice there just trying to stress they've conceded a great goal rather than a soft one. It was a 'Premier League' finish is the only thing I worry about and that may be where he might be coming from.

I imagine he’s just s-stirring. I can think of a couple of ways he could know that I'm afraid.. His international team mate Anton Trusty could know, who is a Sheffield Utd player. Or Sargents agent, or Sargent himself, could have said too much to Sam McCallum's, who has the same agent. So does Sheffield Utd player Callum O'Hare. Sheffield Utd signed both McCallum and O'Hare who are represented by that agency this summer. so not impossible that they've said "what about Sargeant, what would it take to get him", and they could just say "he'll be off for £20m to £25m". Creedence Clearwater Couto 1,611 Posted August 25 (edited) I don’t like the sound of that. I don’t like it at all..😭 Selling Sarge now would be a huge mistake. He was the one we had to keep, he’s irreplaceable IMO. Edited August 25 by Creedence Clearwater Couto

horsefly 5,301 Posted August 25 Typical wan*ky Wilder. Says he hates it when others speculate about the sale of his players, whilst in the same interview speculating about the sale of the opposition's players.

Old Shuck 291 Posted August 25 Sarge would be a sale too far at this point. Gaby leaving was a major blow but a case of having to accept, if not like, it. Rowe another to keep, ideally, but he forced everyones hand. Two out of the three gone. That's enough now. Finding another 15-20 goals a sesson man at this stage will be hugely difficult as clubs will not want to sell players of that renown for the same reason we shouldn't be selling Sarge. Doesn't matter how high the bid is. Lose him, lose the goals....and all the good looking football from one end to the pitch to the other won't mean a thing if no-one is there to finish things off.

I understand your point, but how hard is he going to play for us if we get in the way of his career, my fear at this point would be the time available to replace him, and then bed in a new player. Ultimately if an EPL side makes a serious bid we will be in a weak position.

So either Wilder's talking with his **** hanging out or Sarge is more professional that Rowe or others and will continue to do a job for us.
