He played fine. Clearly not the finished article, shouldn't expect him to be yet.

Think there has been a little hyperbole over how good he is all the same. Many saying- based on pre season- that he is our best option at CB which I wouldn't say is true.

Be interesting to see which of him or Warner goes out on loan.

Funny how people see different things.

Hills looks the most composed of the 2 (for me) and far more comfortable in possession.  There were times last night where Warner should be taking the ball on his back foot but always reverts back to the his right foot and therefore needs another touch, that allowed them to put him under unnecessary pressure.

At full-time did Brad Hills throw his shirt to a young supporter....and then the young supporter threw it back to him?.....

Has anyone taken consideration to nerves for a 1st start at senior level??

Yes there were mistakes, any more so than Duffy or Hanley....

Most sensible supporters know we are unlikely challenges to promotion this year, if these lads can stave of relegation a full season at champs level can only show how good they may well be.

Stacey. Hills. Doyle.   Chrisene for me until all are fit

i think the problem our Young CB'S will have is we are so so desperate to have a good young CB come through ,

we have seen the decline of Hanley and seen mistakes with Duffy and Gibson etc

we seem to produce good attackers in Academy so we are desperate to find a good young CB for the next few years ,

i hope they do well and one or both is in the team for a few seasons ,

I've read this about four times now and I have literally no idea quite how to reply to it.

Have quick look at how upset some people were about Todd's hair Wolfo. Some people just can't see the footy past the hair, it's like an illness. Don't bother with it.

Wonder if our scouts take a one game sample and form such a verdict?

Nope they just compare hairstyles and get rid if the worst. Pep does it all the time, it's why the writing is on the wall for de Bruyne.

Just saw that and confirmation that the new regime rate him. Unlike some on here, I wish him all the best, whatever hairstyle he chooses!

Good news with the new contract. I have a feeling this will mean he's the one off on loan.

Indeed. If we were going to judge footballers by fashion sense and haircuts, their wouldn't be many likeable ones

Personally I would like to see more of Doyle at centre-half. Looked accomplished there, until moved to a left back position which (I feel) is not his best position. Lovely range of incisive passing.

Completely agree on Doyle, thought he looked really comfortable at centre half

What gives you that impression? He featured more in pre-season than Warner, which would imply he's the one being drilled to play in our system? Of course you might be right, after his POTS award in League Two last season perhaps they want to find him a League One club (or maybe SPL or even abroad) where he can continue his development. Will be interesting to see if you're right.

Just a hunch really. You often see promising youth players put pen to paper just before they head out (I think in this case the fans most definitely want reassurance that he has a pathway)

My angle is that Hanley also got a lot of time in pre-season, which suggested to me he had the most work to do to fit in. I have a feeling that though Hills is an exciting CB to watch, he might have more work to do on the finer points.

Like I said, just hunches and hearsay. He seems like the sort of player who will develop best with game time a la Godfrey.

😂😂😂😂😂

You being offended that Hills didn’t high five someone. Then you using a derogatory term for people with Down’s syndrome.

Glad to see your priorities are in a good place.

Just for clarity, I’ve never met you but I think you’ve shown yourself up here moonbeam. And to confirm, my dad before he died did not have any kind of learning disability or otherwise. I hope your daughter didn’t see your horrible comment, you’re a bit of a contradiction

More interested in throwing his hair back, couldn’t see the overload on his side for the second goal for Boro. Way too arrogant to even give the kids a high five near the tunnel at the start of each half. Jaden Warner is the better centre half by a country mile.

Can this demand for his inclusion stop now

Great that you’re back. Slagging off kids making their debut before giving them a chance. Does it make you feel big and important?

I think what people were saying is he performed best of the centre backs in pre season which I think is true although to be fair Duffy was pretty good in pre-season.

I’d like to get him into the side because I think having a ball playing centre half will improve our general game significantly although I think Doyle will also do the same if played there.

I don't really have an opinion of Hills (other than really wanting a local boy to be good). However football fans in general flip flop from one extreme to the other. The minute has has a good game, he's the next big thing (remember Idah being hailed as amazing early on), then when things are not as good he'll be useless (again, remember Idah). The reality is, Idah was never amazing and never terrible, but people love a dramatic statement about it. Saying "He's decent and useful but not a world beater" doesn't quite have the same ring or drama as "He's the new Ronaldo" or "He isn't good enough for League 2" etc etc. So, people are drawn to the extremes. Don't get drawn into this trap with Hills and let's just watch and hope?
