Another goodbye, Abu Kamara

Recommended Posts

Doing some digging on the Idah deal. Got wind that Abu Kamara is also off. Boss in from multiple clubs and has been pushed for sales by Norwich rather than the other way round. The belief is he’s not able to step up.

Hmmm. I know Hull were rumoured to be keen. I think we'll see a quite a bit of movement this week

If this is true it only adds to the amount of players we need to bring in. Unless we’re relying on some of the dross that have failed us already.

Really hope Abu stays. Watching him play for Pompey last season, he won games for them with big 8.5/10 performances.

But he has failed to stand out when he has had minutes for us. Maybe League 1 is his level, maybe we think we have better players (or potential signings) in his position.

That’s fair but playing in L1 is a lot different to the Champs - I’m not convinced Kamara is ready for the step up yet.

My son is a Pompey fan and I saw a lot of Kamara last year - not entirely sure he can make the step up to the Championship at the moment.......still young though so could improve

Surely not? I'm still apoplectic about losing Bali Mumba to Paris St Ge... sorry, Plymouth.

Thing is Kamara is going to be competing with the quality of Forson as that looks the benchmark for signings

Which could mean another loan, or getting his head down and working hard at Colney

Too early to be calling Forson quality, or assuming Kamara couldn’t play a wing if Rowe goes. IMO it would be a very premature sale - and in the face of what Knapper and Thorup are meant to be doing, somewhat

If I were Kamara I’d be slightly annoyed that Fassnacht started ahead of him at Oxford despite rarely featuring in pre season.

I think that’s more a reflection on how Kamara performed in pre-season.

He was injured.  Kamara played at various times and mostly looked anonymous. Perhaps that is why?  That Fassnacht was largely innocuous on Saturday isn’t relevant.

Or indeed during the game on Saturday which he apparently started but didn't appear to actively take part in.

I presume when you say doing some digging, that you saw it on Twitter like everyone else.

It kind of is.

In the last year of his contract, he either signs a new one or we get a couple of million for him. Didn't do enough to get a new one, presumably.

I feel Fassnacht is rather innocuous full stop.

Obviously we have ourselves another scapegoat. Didn’t take long, did it .

Go on then. Explain what he brings to our game.

Far more than Kamara. And that’s the point.  Fassnacht wasn’t meant to play on Saturday and got the late call to replace Rowe.  It really doesn’t matter to me that tou don’t get it.

I just like that if you say his name quickly it sounds like there is someone with a bit of pace around the team….would be better if it was in defence of course.

I hope we have players lined up to come into the club. At this rate, we’ll have a smaller squad than the Villa team of 1980/81. All a bit frantic at present.
