Does thoruo lack authority?

Recommended Posts

We have a very young manager who doesn’t strike me as a big character as such. The whole saga with Rowe makes me wonder if the players are not giving him respect he deserves. Hope I am wrong…

I saw the so called 'skipper" chuck his shirt on the floor when taken off. Followed that by doing same to his under garment thing. Disgraceful example. His constant cheating was finally caught out today. Watching the 'performance' from all players, the body language from most was shocking.

And with neither having performed at a high level ample space for arrogant players to coast. I hope not - but I do wonder

Anyone whose only previous role was in Denmark will lack authority in the championship end of.

I hope that's just a typo and not a ridiculous nickname you're trying to start for him 😉

Just seen his post match comments which rather confirm my suspicions- he said “We have to build an environment for everyone around to respect that it is important that a club cannot be run by too many players.”

what does that say reading between the lines?

Delia thinks he’s a lovely young man

hang on a minute? Massive deja vu all of a sudden .

The concern I have is whether he’s strong enough to take on certain characters this early. Him playing Hanley and Duffy together suggests to me that he isn’t. More worryingly however is if he actually rates that pairing.

Farke had some big issues like this early on. I can't remember who said it and in what interview but one time in the changing room early on when things were going poorly it was noted that players were looking at Russel Martin instead of the manager and as a result Farke made the decision to send Martin out on loan because he was undermining his authority.

This type of thing is naturally gonna happen in football with a young coach, players are going to test him and senior members of the playing squad who have some authority but don't have to make the tough decisions will be looked up to by the rest of the squad and so will hold a lot of sway over how the whole squad feels about the manager. How Thorup handles this and the decisions he makes over the next few weeks are going to be key to whether he succeeds or not.

He didn’t end the quote there, he said ……..too many players, when they have ambitions to go somewhere else in the middle of a game day.

So he was talking about the context, IMO, of the players that want out. Rather than a rebellion against him, for eg.

The squad is adjusting to a new pecking order. I suspect the senior players aren't 100% behind the new Norwich way, especially with focus on youth. Honestly, we need to turn to those who are invested and want to be here now.

Cordoba is injured, he may feel Hills needs more matchday squad experience. Sorensen was the choice, I think owing to how badly it was going.

Yeah I don’t think it’s fair to throw Hills on at 2 down. Should have started him though.

I think we do have to accept that yes he is a young and relatively inexperienced (and the same with Knapper).

As a result he will make mistakes but the key will be if he can quickly learn from them. Unfortunately the state of our squad and the demands of the fans mean he has to do this very quickly or it could be a disaster..

IF there are players Undermining him or being disrespectful he needs to deal with that immediately, be that grumpy old has beens like McLean or Hanley or cocky young upstarts like Rowe.

Can also hope that he quickly learns from today that most of last years first team are no longer adequately equipped to deal with championship football and perhaps even more shockingly don’t appear to even have the heart or passion for it.

What respect does he deserve?  Massively out of his depth.

The only positive is that he didn't seem afraid to make early subs. Mind you, Ray Charles could've seen how bad Gibbs was. The negative to the positive is that the replacements were shoite as well. Utterly abject display, played out in front of the cameras

I think any young coach who comes from a smaller league like Denmark is always going to face challenges to his authority by the old hands who think they know everything, just as it seems Farke faced in his early days. It's up to Thorup to stamp his authority: for example, by dropping Hanley, who was clearly having a paddy about being substituted after a series of the worst performances I have ever seen from a Norwich defender. This is going to have to happen sooner or later if this season is not to turn into a relegation battle, so in my opinion the sooner Thorup shows some cojones, the better.

Against Oxford in which it was so bad it’s hard to quantify - and after a turgid preseason too

So what? That means we question everything instantly? Give it a rest.

Yes it was poor, yes the lineup was depressing, yes we lost to a 'small' club and yes patience doesn't last forever... but it should last longer than the first game of the season! I am utterly convinced the lineup and performances by the end of the season will be totally different to what we saw today. This was always going to be a transitional season - I'm expecting a midtable finish and then next season the pressure will be on the management team... but I'm not going to question them after their first game in charge.

Delia is the worst person, ever. She is totally responsible for everything going wrong, whether it's players disrespecting the club or riots in the streets. Wishy washy lefties have no backbone whatsoever. Players can do as they like. Migrants can migrate as they choose.
