Stinks of incredible arrogance if you think we’ll blow away Oxford. We lost last year against teams who were promoted like Rotherham and last year we had a better squad. You’re now focusing on the 2-0 score line. I’m talking about: 14 hours ago, MC_NCFC said: Rowe out of the match day squad Why would we not play him, he’s been the standout in pre-season? Yes, if a transfer was imminent we might protect him, but there is only one flimsy story to suggest that he is on his way. For the avoidance of doubt - 2-0 is entirely possible (so don’t start posting on here that you weren’t believed before the game if that turns out to be the result!). Personally, I think making predictions at any time is pointless, but even more so before a ball has been kicked in anger. None of us have any way of accurately forecasting how the game will go, that’s why sport is interesting.

The current total score of all suggestions on this thread. is oxford 70 norwich 42 which is about 5 to 3 in possible but unlikely numbers. I think it means Oxford 2 or 3 and Norwich 1 or 0. Oxford 1 norwich 2 will actually happen and yes I know I am an anorak.

Indy 3,493 Posted August 7, 2024 Can’t believe how negative you all are…….i know historically Norwich aren’t great first game, but it’s a newly promoted side with eight additions to the squad, it’s going to take time to settle into this league, I’m not expecting much first few games for Oxford but they will develop and just survive I believe. The players bought in are excellent for Oxford, still no match for the experience and talent City have. Still take a draw but City will win by 2.

A newly-promoted side back in this division for the first time in 25 years - at home. They might not be overly fluid, but nor are we at the moment, particularly losing a key player in Sara and with a brand-new manager trying to get a different style of play ingrained into the team. Fired-up underdogs on their home patch have definitely given us trouble in the not-too-distant past. Plymouth and Rotherham were two particularly good examples. Serinus canaria 30 Posted August 7, 2024 I have high hopes for the Thorup and Riddersholm era but given the squad available to them and change of style I think things may get worse before they get better, so with a bit of momentum Oxford could have too much.
