Hernandez sale ?

Recommended Posts

Older player, last year of contract and Thorup has given him very few minutes in pre season. Do we expect a parting of the ways before August is out ?

Hanley, barnes, Duffy and fassanacht all probably in the same bracket. None look like Knapper / Thorup players and all on decent money with contracts expiring. Think all are back ups with a for sale sign on them.

i know he's getting on, but if Rowe goes we may be a tad thin on the wings no?

i reckon we may need him as cover

Why would anyone buy him and why would he leave?

I doubt he’ll get higher wages and he loves it here.

He can leave on a free if we don’t extend next year and given his attitude can’t see him pushing to move prior.

I presume their contracts and salaries make all of them very unlikely sales, given their low perceived value. Three millstones and one debatable perhaps?

If he offered more than a 1 year contract he'd be daft not to take it. He isn't getting another contract here and clearly doesn't have the technical ability for Thorup's possession dominating games approach, whatever that is.

If he just runs down his contract it suggests to me he's being paid far too much go be a YouTuber.

Loan away only, sold kicking and screaming against his will. He's here forever, deal with it.

Now who was it who offered him said contract? Now let me think for a minute......!!! Surely not that previous SD who the owners 'begged to stay'???

And he's been a useful squad player since. I don't think keeping him here was a mistake.

I'm pro keeping him on. Still got the desire to improve and contribute, great character to have around too. Fully fit he can still be difficult for defenders to play against. Need people like him in the squad.

I'd much rather see the back of Duffy, Barnes and Hanley miles before shifting Onel on.

If it wasn’t for the tattoo, Onel would’ve been written off a long time ago. We’ve quietly said goodbye to far more ‘useful’ players in recent years. Onel’s love for The Fine City is great, no question - but after his Birmingham loan I’ve had something of a ‘reheated cold coffee’ feeling towards him.

Jesus, we need SOME playing staff! If we shifted everyone that people are suggesting we'd be left with a skeleton crew!

Hernandez ,does not score or assist anywhere near enough ,

i know there is more to a wingers game like carrying the ball upfield etc but we need end product

He’s one of those who’s been around the club, always positive, gives his all. A great role model for younger players and all round good egg. Worth keeping for his contribution off field - and decent enough as an option from the bench.

I think you'll find if the management team, sporting director, board of directors, owners, most of the players and the kit man all left we would finally be able to have some ambition.

i get your point and we do need players who are Role models but ,

you can not sell the likes of Sara  and maybe Rowe to pay the wages of someone with very little end product ,

Unless someone comes in with good money, I suspect he’s a useful player to keep about. Happy to play 2nd fiddle, versatile, relatively reliable fitness, experienced, good personality, professional.

He'd be a hard one to replace in a strange way.

Those wages are our liability regardless so unless someone else comes and offers us a route out, we might as well keep him as good cover.

Dare I say it, if we fail to go up this season, he’d be a contender for a new deal on much lower wages as well as depressing as the thought might be.

Having someone like Onel there enables us to gamble on someone younger with way more potential but also potential to turn out absolutely horrible safe in the knowledge we have someone who can reliably deliver 6.5/10 performances as back up.

yes you are right until someone takes him off our hands he is here and the wages have to be paid ,

just think those wages could be spent on a winger who can cross , i think Norwich have a lot of players who are good round the club and we see past the fact they do not produce much on the pitch ,

i do agree he will give you 6.5 performances but maybe a youngster could give you that and more maybe ?

You miss the point of selling Sara.

Onel won't be on massive wages either. Again, if you look at his videos etc, it's clear he's had a big part in helping Sara and Nunez settle in. I'm not sure it's even a coincidence that he was given a new contract at the time we launched heavier scouting in South and Central America.

Sorensen was given a new contract this summer... arguably contributes less than Onel has, or players allowed to leave on a free.

We also need a squad. People seem to massively underate players to suppport their view that they should be gone.

Fassnacht, Onel, Barnes, Duffy, McLean and Hanley. That's six senior pros. At least three were regular starters last season with others being on the bench or better when fit.

Where do we get the money to replace 6 players? We've been told we have no money to but new players. So we'd have to sell Rowe, get shot of those 6 and use the Rowe money to sign 7 players?
