Stabbings at a daycare in Southport

Awful, awful disgusting news. Hate saying this country has lost the plot but it sadly feels that way sometimes.

Speedy recovery to all involved.

A daycare centre 😮 no mention of that on the BBC app.

How sick.

Yes, they’re being very guarded with what they’re telling us, but it appears to have been at a children’s dance class.

Hope the Police haven’t given him a kicking in the privacy of his cell.  I’m sure no-one would want that.

Wouldn’t look good for them if they did. That isn’t how people expect police forces to behave.

Looks like a bunch of kids at a Taylor Swift yoga and dance class event which was being held at the nursery.

One man with a knife arrested at the scene, arrived masked in a taxi which he refused to pay for, then run into the building.

Obviously I'm not going to speculate on the race, religion etc of the perpetrator at this time.

I have 2 daughters younger than that.

As usually happens after atrocities such as this, there’s lots of uninformed speculation on social media about the circumstances and the motivations of the perpetrator, but this is not helped by the complete lack of news updates from the media and Police.  It goes without saying that the wellbeing of the victims and their families come first but I sincerely hope there’ll be a press conference later today.

I think that, by definition, whoever carried this out is clinically insane.

Let's all be honest..

Murder does tend to be carried out by people who are not all there in the head otherwise they would not be doing such a thing in the first place.

To avoid speculation on social media the Police need to make it clear.

Although many on social media seem to think they know who it was.  Police need to make it clear.

Yes the alleged name is all over social media

My wife’s dad lived in the road where this happened. It’s a very quiet road in a nice neighbourhood, totally unexpected that something like this would happen there.

when the police fail to give a name or a full description of the suspect then one can fairly confidently presume the profile of this person. Outside the UK, the internet is providing the name of Ali Al-Shakati. Whether that is correct remains to be seen, but the police cannot hide the name forever.

Social media hasn't got a good track record of naming names. We all know who you want it to be a but can you wait until the full facts come out? Is that too much to ask?

Why has the person been named when the police, various agencies helping and the victims families and the local MP have insisted on no speculation ?

In recent years it seems there is just as much chance of it being an Incel than an Islamist, speculating isn't wise.

The original source of that Muslim name appears to be an obvious American fake news website to me called Channel 3 News, with fewer than 3000 twitter followers and no LLC details anywhere on their website. It's a bit embarrassing that these sites still get traction.

Can't wait for how the BBC 'manage' this crime on the One o'Clock News.

The Manchester Airport breaking news last Wednesday showed the skewed final kicking phone footage 19 times!

Impartial, my ar$e - defund the BBC! And give the money back to the pensioners winter allowance.

Yeah, I reckon there'll be footage of kids getting stabbed live on national telly first thing in the afternoon, somehow. 😉

Anyway, we know the perpetrator was born in Cardiff.

That, and the fact his parents migrated from Rwanda, is about all we know of him.

Yeah, it's gonna be guesswork. Not seeing much re. parents not being law-abiding, they seem to have moved from a decent part of Cardiff and come up to Banks, which is basically a dormitory village for Preston, Southport and Liverpool. Not exactly a cheap place to live.

And already some RWNJs are taking advantage of children being stabbed to death to peddle their agendas. Widespread horse**** being pushed out about how he came in on a boat last year. These insects have no shame.

It's beyond depressing how even stuff like this has become a battleground.

People obsessed with the attackers ethnicity and immigration status as they are desperate to score points, speculation the police are lying about the attackers age in order to avoid releasing this sort of information, even someone on this thread using it as an excuse to attack the BBC of all things. Meanwhile children have died or are in hospital, families have been torn apart and yet this all seems at best secondary to people who have an agenda they must peddle.
