Summary is some did / some didn't. Ticket office screwed up the database extract meaning loads of people got one when they shouldnt have leading to much confusion and potential for first home game unexpected issues

CANARYKING 694 Posted July 28 Sorry to be a confused.com but is everyone getting a new one ?
East Rider 585 Posted July 28 Well we have not received new ones so far.
Branston Pickle 4,059 Posted July 28 Afaik we weren’t due to be getting new cards, and this was just a system glitch so some have had them unexpectedly. My son only just got his first season ticket so he’s had one, but I’m an old-timer and didn’t. Presumably it won’t cause any problems for our first home game. I guess anyone who received a new card would use it.

When you say digital entry, do you mean paying for your season on line, having it loaded onto a smartphone and "pinging" your smartphone to enter the ground?. Personally I cannot see how that is any different/an improvement on paying for your season ticket on line, having it loaded onto your season ticket card and "pinging" your card to enter the ground, that seems pretty digital to me*............. *I am guessing that "going digital" is actually code for "you will no longer be able to lend your season ticket to somebody else", although I assume that if you have a separate phone with nothing else on it except your season ticket you can lend somebody else that phone?.......... Blofield Canary 12 Posted July 29 Just to add to the confusion... I received two new cards for our two seats and went on the clubs website to buy both seats for the cup match. One ticket has been loaded onto my card but the other is a print at home??

Also potentially makes "transferability" much more difficult. At the moment you simply give the card to someone else to use - if now tied to an app on the phone this may be much more difficult (or not allowed) by design. Cynic in me thinks the business case for ticketless card could involve benefits (to the club) around much higher levels of fans looking to get a partial refund for matches they cant attend and club getting additional revenue from ticket resale. You could be right resale of tickets, but again at the moment you can log into your Canaries account and make your ticket available for resale. I personally think it is about putting an end to supporters being able to give their season ticket card to someone else for games they cannot make. I cannot see any other logical reason for it as the present season ticket sale/renewal/buyback process seems pretty "digital" to me...........

That risks more empty seats. The better way may be to allow transfer to a Family and Friends paid up Member with, arguably, a limit on the number of times per season. The electronic transfer could be facilitated at the same time. A season ticket opt out for midweek games would also be helpful given how many struggle to attend. I hate to "fuel" Essex here, but this is exactly what Sheffield United have enabled for this year. They have implemented a mobile phone enabled NFC season ticket this year. You can "forward" your season ticket for a match to anyone in your "friends and families" in your online account on their ticket site, but only within 90 minutes of kick off of the specific named game! To be in that "friends and families" group, lots of data useful for marketing is of course added. And being in the season ticket holders online account of course makes that person accountable for any trouble caused by the reciever of the ticket. How do I know this? Well, I do tend to benefit occasionally when my Blades friend can't make the match, we've just been making sure I can still benefit this season. An opportunity to market to a wider audience and we are a year behind many other Clubs. Have they lost their way to the Gas Station?

I’m not sure ‘benefit’ is a word I’d use for ever being able to watch Sheff U, but then I’m a Wednesdayite where Sheffield is concerned.
