Semi official Lappinitup match thread Canaries V Der Club

Recommended Posts

It's going to take weeks for the squad to get accustomed to a new style of play and even then some of the less technically gifted players might struggle.

I would say though, that is sort of irrelevant if your back 5 includes Long, Stacey, Hanley, Sorensen and Fisher, none of whom are comfortable on their weak foot!

You're probably correct. I should stick to my acknowledged area of expertise in computing...🤩

Play Kenny at left back and Sorenson in midfield and sign a striker

Hilarious.

Duffy was on for about 10 mins and Sainz missed a glorious opportunity and also screwed up for the Magdeburg goal.

I feel like you MUST be on a wind up

Not a wind up! And that shows how good we were for a 10 min appearance and missed opportunity to be our best players!

Yup, a bit of keepy uppy and a perfect through ball to the striker.

it will be interesting to see how Sainz and Rowe adapt as much of their good work is individual brilliance rather than dominating possession and building.

I'm hoping that we can emulate Spain by still having advancing wingers yet still dominate possession. That might be rather optimistic though!

Well don't watch the Olympics opening ceremony then, it's absolute dog****.

Strange, because I thought it was brilliant.

Took Farke 3/4 of a season to get the team playing his way, I see no reason not to expect the same from our new coach even if he is as good as I hope.

Opening ceremony? Only time I thought 'Stop The Boats' would have been a sensible retort...Sorry

To anybody that actually went to the game on Friday.
Did you actually see a difference in the way we played.Did we actually play with a back three with Stacey playing more as a wing back.Did the player on the right come inside to make a midfield 4 or did one of the midfield drop back between the two centre halves as they did last season.Did they progress the ball forwards faster or was it the same as last seasons effort of playing slowly out from the back.
That to me would be the only noticable change from last season,I am afraid that I dont quite understand what 'controlling the game with possessive aggression' (I think thats the phrase that was used) actually means.

It was a very static 433 with not a great deal of rotation. Fullbacks didn’t really get forwards to support the attack. Wingers didn’t really track back, leaving FBs isolated.

No clear patterns of play when playing out from the back; Nunez and McLean seemed unsure who was meant to drop between the cbs, sometimes neither did, leaving the cbs nowhere to progress to except for going long to no striker. Sometimes both did, so one received only to pass sideways to the other. Struggled to get out of our own box.

Not much tempo in possession except for in bursts and no obvious commitment to a high press.

I went there hoping for a really clear sense of what the new coach is all about and didn’t get one at all. Not slating the team, it’s really early days, players are missing and we have no idea what the instructions were, nor what we aimed to get from it. Just saying, I’m none the wiser about what the season will look like based on last Friday.
