BigEars 29 Posted July 22 I feel I need a break from the slow transfer window….so for something a little different: It will show my age but my first game at CR was a classic from 1980. NCFC 3-5 Liverpool. It had everything including the iconic Fash goal, and to this day I’m sure that at least one of Fairclough’s hattrick was offside (although i was down the other end!). A great Liverpool team to be fair - Hansen, Dalglish, McDermott, Souness, Clemence etc. Yes it was a loss, but I don’t think there could ever be a more exciting game, at least in my mind. 1980s football seemed so much more honest than the game today. Was anybody else there, or if not, what was your first game and how would you describe it?

They’d made it all ticket unknown to us so back in Leicester before 6pm. Late equaliser for the Gunners if I remember?

Nobby 2 Posted July 23 vs Liverpool, late 70's or early 80's. Dad's firm (Norwich Brewery) had a box at the River End. Super sub David Fairclough with a winner in a drab 0-1 loss, if my memory is correct.

CatLineker28 7 Posted July 23 3-2 Sunderland 1st day of 90/91 season. Dale Gordon scored a beauty to put us ahead and Rosario hit the bar with a header from about 3 yards on stroke of half time which would have made 3-0 and killed game. Then they fell apart for 30 mins and Gabbiadini levelled before Fox won it lateish. Loved it.
SwearyCanary 1,340 Posted July 23 24th August 1994 v Palace: 0-0 draw and because my dad was utterly clueless about going to football and generally disliked the sport he inadvertently bought us tickets in the away end 😂. I didn’t enjoy it but thankfully came back for better times and results

Foxy2600 376 Posted July 23 Was on my summer holidays in Lowestoft, dropped in on my mums sister in Norwich. My uncle took me to the Stoke game, who had Geoff Hurst and Gordon Banks playing. My first at a stadium. Was an Everton fan up until that day (dunno why, perhaps Alan Ball and the World Cup?). August 1972 2-0. Still got the wooly bobble hat I was bought. Remember we were on the Big Match a lot that season 😀

Fifty 51 Posted July 23 Jan 1st 91 - standing at the front of the Barclay aged 10 as Tim Sherwood put us into an early lead before we lost 6-2 to a very good Brian Clough side with a young Roy Keane dominant. Saw a terribly shanked John Polston own goal (shades of his infamy on the Danny Baker own goals and gaffs video), a great consolation from Robert Fleck, and Bryan Gunn and Mark Bowen having a furious bust up over needlessly conceding a corner right in front of us. I thought it was absolutely brilliant! As we were just to the side of a goal you can see me and my brother in most of the Forest second half goals in our Parka coats.
