The future under Prime Minister Keir Starmer

Recommended Posts

Slow reform. Anyone expecting rapid changes is setting their expectations far too high. A prudent leader will slowly take stock of what's going on, come up with a more holistic position, then take it from there.

This is about stopping the bleeding. Not pumping full of vitamins.

What exactly are you expecting the next few years of the UK being run by Statmer under a Labour super majority to look like?

1. Trade with the EU will be tariff-free and involve minimal bureaucracy

2. Northern Ireland border 'absolutely unchanged'

3. End supremacy of EU law and the EU's Court of Justice

4. Take back control on immigration and asylum, and cut migration to the tens of thousands

5. Britain will take back control of its fisheries

6. £350M for the NHS instead of being sent to Brussels

7. New trade deals, and access to a European trading zone 'from Iceland to Russia'

8. Continue cooperating on security issues and counter-terrorism

9. Financial protection for farmers who used to get cash from Brussels

10. Continued participation in EU science research schemes, deeper cooperation on scientific collaboration, plus increased funding for science

11. Wages will be higher

12. The union will be stronger

13. Cut VAT on energy bills to save the average household £64 a year

14. Food will be cheaper ans we'll grow it all in Britain

15. All negotiations with the Unions will be done in an afternoon

Constitutionally there is no such thing as a super-majority. Just a phantom pushed in desperation by the Tories and the right-wing press. And after Starmer the most important person in his administration will be Sue Gray. TheGunnShow is right that change may have to be slow, but any change needs to be implemented, and she will be the key figure in achieving that.

All those socialists choosing to live abroad will come rushing back to pay their taxes in the UK and our public services will become the best in the world.

Public spending will have to rise from day one if Labour are going to follow through with their manifesto pledges plus there are a number of public sector pay disputes that urgently need to be settled.

I will be entrusting my vote on the basis the sleaze will end, not so much there isn’t any, but where there is, immediate action is taken.
Obviously for me the NHS needs to be sorted, so you all get the care you deserve, and not what it has been run down to.

I fully expect taxes to go up, but like many, if I see that resulting in improvements that’s fine.
For people like me I will also have an eye on what happens to the conservatives as currently my vote is lent to Labour. If they go back to how they were, then maybe if the circumstances are right I will return also. I fear however they will just swing to the right, with one of Farage, Johnson or one of the mad brigade taking over.

Anyone thinking they are voting for ‘ Sunak ‘ are living in a dreamworld as even if they win he will be replaced in days. Had they have voted him in instead of Truss, this really could have been different, certainly had they voted for Rory, I suspect we might have been predicting a different outcome today.

Personally by the way I don’t think the Labour majority will be as big as predicted. As was proved with Brexit, people take in the totally rubbish scare tactics. I also think there will be more independents win and some posters could well hate having ceasefire candidates in Westminster.

Tax raids on the real working classes and continuing mass immigration and if he’s really in the mood, another Blair **** war.

The only media consumption I've done in the last few months is this completely rational dude from the Telegraph, so based on this I'm expecting we'll all be dead by Tuesday.

But they won’t be backing Sunak, they would be backing Farage, Johnson Braverman ( or somebody like her ).

I used to read the Sunday Telegraph at my in-laws in the morning. That's 40 plus years ago. I might not of agreed with all of its views but it was rational and balanced. Could be trusted on facts.

Now it's no better than any other partisan red top.

Meet the new boss. Same as the old boss.

The intentions will be good but in reality I doubt little will change. Certainly not in a good way. It never does!

This is surely the real damage that 14 years of Tory administration and Brexit deceits has wrought.

Damaged peoples belief in politics generally and that things can change.

That is what SKS has to put right. Deliver on his modest promises.

Unfortunately I've been told that Starmer has declared all Pinkun posters must report to Norfolk and Norwich by 12pm tomorrow for mandatory gender reassignment surgery. You're allowed to chose your new name from a list of 20 they'll supply on arrival.

Because y'know...woke and stuff.

Yes it has gone quite mental in the last couple of years. Some genuinely unhinged stuff in their opinion columns.

My crappy analogy. This will be like taking off your brick filled backpack after a 14 mile hike. You still have to build a fire and set up camp but at the moment you can just enjoy the relief of discarding the heavy weight.

Both the telegraph and guardian are two sides of the same loony coin when you check out their opinion collums, you get the unhinged right wing in the telegraph and unhinged left wing in the Guardian.

You get the Telegraph and its 'WOKE teachers FORCING your kids to BOW to George Floyd as they teach them about GAY SEX' stuff and then you get the Guardian being all 'Its OVER for boring Keir as everyone DEMANDS Corbyn be reinstated as Labour leader!'
