Apparently it's been mentioned in a report in The Athletic, so not exactly Leeds fans making things up.

Anyway we don't need any midfielders especially if Sara and Nunez leave.

We definitely need a good defensive midfield option, regardless. Skipp sure is that.

So is there much truth in Leeds' FFP issues? Doesn't really tally with them being linked with paying £40k a week and presumably a substantial loan fee for Skipp.

There could be players leaving though and who knows Summerville or Gray to Spurs as part of the deal.

They do have tradeable players and I'm not sure Skipp is all that so I suspect Leeds will still have a very strong squad, certainly stronger than what Ipswich had last season.

Based on what was going on with Leicester, it seems as though it differs depending on the league you're in.  So perhaps Leeds plan this season is that they should be walking the league and so put the investment in and then face consequences later?

What's the worse that could happen to them?  Even if they lost a few points, it's nothing compared to the inability to boss the league or field a stronger team isn't it?

We effectively had 3 points taken from us with the whole Sainz/Howson thing at Middlesboro.  I doubt they'd lose much more than that based on what we've seen of Everton and Forest... but maybe they were different cases?

I know **** all about these things, but I was told the EFL FFP rules are more stringent than EPL? I guess a go-for-broke strategy would work, as what can they do about it if they end up getting promoted? Suspend a points deduction until they get relegated back to the Championship?

I suspect Leeds will have to Sell a couple of their players, like us, to balance the books. I am also guessing the players sold will be on higher wages so will free up money for a loan. Also not all loans mean you pay all their salary.

I remember some years ago that QPR were sanctioned under FFP rules by the EFL, they escaped it from promotion, but it was applied when they were relegated again.

As good as he was for us ,at the time,I do think people are going a bit ott with their appraisal of Skipp.
Agreed that we really need a good defensive midfielder but we need one that can be effective with ball and as far as I am concerned Skipp was never that.

Spurs want Archie Gray.

So one would presume that the loan would be a sweetener in that deal, with the loan fee coming off the amount they pay for Gray, and that Leeds might not necessarily be paying all of his wages for the year?

I don’t see it that way. Skipp was absolute quality. Sadly he’s too far above us as an incoming signing. He’s at the level where we sell!

And Buendia to feed Pukki. We don't have that flow in our play now. I can't see the need for a £40k a week defensive midfielder when we're much more disciplined in our set up.

To put it another way if we have £40k a week to spend I'd probably think of a better way, such as a quality leftback and CB.
