That's the rumour sweeping across social media right now. Maybe they're a little angry we took a player they wanted and now want something in return from us.

Seriously though if there is at least some small speck of truth in this dubious little rumour it is a rather interesting one.. Been here five years, took our armband in Hanleys absence, still has two years left on his contract..

I don’t think Kenny is going anywhere, next season he we be an important older head in a younger team. I honestly don’t see Duffy (if he’s still here) or Barnes being in a Hoff starting eleven.

He's a big Rangers fan, isn't he? Would prefer him to stay here - as @Channon’s Windmill rightly noted, he'd be an experienced older head in a young team and he's a decent captain. Wouldn't be surprised if they look at him for that reason as their captain might be going to Saudi.

You won’t get much for Kenny and can you replace him for it? The last player over 30 I’d want to see leave personally.

If he does go you can’t blame him after the abuse towards him was increased last season.

One of those where I wouldn't be overly shocked either way. Guess it just depends on how much Knapper and Thorup are wanting to churn the squad. Shifting Hanley, Duffy, Barnes or Hernandez will be near on impossible so it could be a way of bringing down the age and wage of the squad.

I think he'll probably stay though. If Thorup is planning on using the same build up shape I could very well see him being that inverted full back.

Presumably one of the top earners at the club and is still on a pretty long deal so there's that way of looking at it.

He won fans player of the year. Abuse towards Kenny has decreased massively in the last few years.

Can’t fault him if he chooses to go to his boyhood club, can’t see us letting him go without a fight though

33 in January, maybe his last opportunity to play a decent standard elsewhere/ last contract. He's from just outside Glasgow, was at Rangers as a youth- I could see it.

As with pretty much every move outside of Sara + Rowe this summer, the departure would entirely depend on the replacement IMO. We would have to be very confident in whoever came in, especially as it will likely be a cheaper option.

Got a lot of time for Kenny, would be sorry to see a great servant go, however there are always caveats. Without a committed defensive midfielder in there with him, he's always a slightly awkward fit.

If Rangers couldn't match wages Norwich were offering Cordoba, very hard to see them being able to better the money Kenny is currently on at Norwich. Also hard to imagine Rangers, who tend to target young players they can flip, looking to bring in an expensive Kenny Mclean right at the end of his career.

Increased? It’s probably the season with the least complaining about Kenny I can remember.

Let’s be honest he was pretty good last season but in reality we need to be building for the future, if there’s a decent offer then great thank you for your service and all the best at rangers!
But I think it’s just idle press reporting again. Can’t see rangers wanting McLean they’ve just released Lundstrum far better player!

Exactly, as I’ve just posted they released Lundstrum who’s just 30 so why would they go after McLean?

It’s time we moved on from Kenny McLean is the reality.

Honestly, takes like this baffle me.

We're trying to move to a more youthful profile and anyone in football will tell you that requires experienced role models to lead the younger ones.

Knowing this you want to sell our player of the season and vice captain (who spent most of last season with the arm band given Hanley's injury) for a price which we couldn't get a player that could lace McLean's boots? ****ing nutjob kind of thinking.

Everyone has their price at NCFC, that's unfortunately part of the gig. But players key to the club - like Kenny McLean - shouldn't be sold unless an offer we can't refuse is received.

Thankfully this must be some sort of sick and twisted joke. What is wrong with people! There's enough bad things in the world without making up new world-enders for crying out loud.

I mean, social media is full of garbage isn't it, including football nonsense and rumours. It's worth following the proper football journos as they tend to have contacts. Everyone else just makes stuff up.

Wouldn't it be great if we had a thread that transfer rumours and speculation could all be collated into so the bat **** crazy stuff didn't keep getting thread after thread clogging up the forum and pushing down the quality discussion that otherwise takes place?

He once said it's his dream to play for Rangers and he's running out of time. Be nice for him to go out on a high after a decent season by his standards. Still baffled at his POTS but it's not the stupidest referendum result we've seen.

The wage bill needs a significant cut, so would expect the club will be open to moving on any of the older, higher earners. It also sits with Knapper plan to reduce the average age of the squad. While I can see the argument for keeping him as a leader, it may come down to whether the club can move the likes of Barnes and Duffy on instead.

Kenny gets linked to rangers every season. Is there a reputable source for this or just the usual nonsense?

You'll need to speak to cambridge about that.

Bearing in mind that our POTS usually moves on after winning the award (there must have been several in total), it wouldn't surprise me. Kenny has achieved a lot here, has gone out, if that's the case, on a personal high so he may well be tempted...

Wouldn't surprise me if he left either, we're coming in to a new era and he's been a hell of a servant for this club.  I really like him, and would prefer him to stay but I could completely understand his desire to want to play for Rangers if there was the opportunity.

I don’t recall him getting abuse in the ground and he got POTS .
A few idiots on here don’t really count .

Not particularly true...

99&00 - Iwan Roberts
01 - Andy Marshall
02 - Gary Holt
03 - Drury
04 - Fleming
05 - Huckerby
06 - Doherty
07 - Huckerby
08 - Dublin
09 - Croft
10, 11 & 12 - Grant Holt
13 - Bassong
14 - Snodgrass
15 - Bradley Johnson
16 - Howson
17 - Hoolahan
18 - Maddison
19 - Pukki
20 - Krul
21 - Buendia
22 - Pukki
23 - Sara
24 - McLean

I'm going to say this is just an old rumour being recirculated. I want to say he has said that he would love to end his career up there - I could be imagining that. at 32, he's earned the majority of his career wage now, he might be happy being up closer to family if he has much up there, to see out his playing days for the maybe 3-4 seasons he has left. Especially if he perhaps drops back into defence, he could push out another season perhaps. Especially in the SPL... the fact that David Weir was 36 when he joined Rangers in January 2007 and played on for them until he was 42 suggests Kenny may actually prolong his career moving up there, potentially.

If he stays he should move back to CB imo. Not as quick or mobile as a year or two ago, his experience and abilities would suit that role more than what will be needed in midfield next season.
