dylanisabaddog 5,811 Posted May 28 (edited) I can remember the outrage at a pint of beer going above 50p around 1980. That's £2.07 in today's prices. Edited May 28 by dylanisabaddog

That's 2 shillings 6 pence in old money. As at today's date that is less than £2 adjusted by inflation. That's for the River End with a 2.5p transfer to the South Stand. , 2’6 for Barclay adult 1an9 for boys , so about 12&9 new pence, cash on turnstile, with dad boys could be lifted over.

pete 349 Posted May 28 I do not understand 1980 prices. My first game was a league game Fulham 0 v Luton 1 in April 1980 Macolm McDonald scored winner. According to list Fulham Div 3 and Luton Div 2 in 1980. But nevertheless Luton seats priced at £4.00 priciest seats in all 4 divisions. 1980 Kenilwoth Rd was still a dump and seats were still benches as they are now. Fulham were relegated at the end of the 1979-80 season-that’s why they are listed as division 3. Prices will be for 1980-81 season. Maybe the reason for Luton’s relatively high seat price was just that they didn’t have many seats. The overall most expensive in the list is Nottingham Forest. Florist were champions of Europe at the time weren't they. City Ground was always packed out to bursting, they could almost charge what they wanted even then. Yellowhammer 92 Posted May 28 My first match in 1969 was half a crown (12 1/2p) to get in to the Barclay end as a youngster, great atmosphere in the ground with a sea of green yellow scarfs

Yep half a crown to get in sometimes the operator would tell us turnstile had got stuck and we climb over , no doubt he pocketed the cash !

Often went to Poorman Road with a schoolfriend whose Dad was a Binner - I loved seeing the likes of George Best and Colin Bell put one over on our Suffolk neighbours. Packed out for the big matches but 10,000 below capacity for the following home game.
Sheva 146 Posted May 30 I think Norwich should follow the initiative of the semi pro local clubs and have a ‘ Pay What You Want Day’. That would be interesting 😂

Sheva 146 Posted May 30 For many years there was a ‘ cheap’ turnstile, if you were in the know. Mr Chase closed that down!
