Complete waste of 5 months of a limited time career for him, I can imagine he’s fuming in private but why make a public drama on social media.

I feel pretty sorry for him on a personal level, upended his life to move to another country to try and restart his career and then was relegated to scraps of almost nothing.

Sometimes players need to see what's required to learn, he has been training and learning from different coaches and that could be what makes him a better player, he was not really needed for us and used as cover but he is young and has the opportunity to develop.

He was on the bench before joining so it's not like we've stunted his career progress like we did with someone such as Tzolis who was a starter before joining us.

You'd hope he's enjoyed the experience of coming over and being part of the league and how we do things over here, even if he's not had the on-field time hoped for.

I just hope his lack of time wasn't down to some kind of rift between Knapper and Wagner.  I don't think it was, but you never know the more that's been implied since DW's dismissal.

He featured in more league games for us than at Bologna in the first half of the season,  featuring in 9 out of 22 games for them, and 10 out of 17 for us.

Only difference is that he got 2 league starts there and played for around 200 mins total, versus the 120 mins we gave him.  If he's warmed up an average over 7 mins per game he'd be parity with game time mins vs warming up mins.  Sobering thought for the guy.

I would suggest Wagner had zero say in him and thats partially why he never saw any minutes. That and he barely looked like a footballer when he stepped on the pitch, couldn't run or trap a ball.

Remember on deadline day : 

• - Sargent was just back from a potentially nasty injury
• - Barnes is old and moves like a carthorse
• - Hwang had been let go
• - We'd just let Idah go to Celtic

Only a few hours left of the window and our only striking options were Sargent to suffer a recurrence of his injury would be Barnes further forward, move Rowe out of his best position to play up top, or an untested Aboh.

Seems pretty clear Van Hooijdonk was a last-minute somewhat desperate signing to provide cover up front. Definitely looks like we went shopping for literally anyone from a half decent league who could play up front, wouldn't cost much to loan, and would be OK with being backup. 

Very obvious that Wagner never wanted him. I wish we'd kept Hwang for the whole season, he was starting to look decent and chipped in with a few goals. One goal in the right match might have made the difference in getting us into 5th in the league.

There has been a lot of criticism of Wagner not giving him a chance but he saw him in training all day every day.

You have to speculate in a rift between Wagner and Knapper or at least agreement to disagree. Rumours around that he was going to be sacked even had we been promoted, so the fact he was binned after the final whistle at Leeds is hardly surprising.

The bigger picture for me is what the hell were our recruitment team and Knapper thinking re SVH and if it deters future loanees from signing for us.
