For example, Tomori and Guehi not being picked ahead of Maguire. Statistically some of the best defenders in the EPL get ignored by Southgate  - for example, Henry at Brentford, Mitchell at Palace, Robinson at Fulham, Kilman at Wolves. But Branthwaite, Dunk and Quansah get selected, even though none of them are anywhere near the top 20 statistically.

Whilst I agree with the vast majority of your post, I think it's worth pointing out that Tomori hasn't had a great season, Henry has been injured for the last nine months, Robinson has 41 caps for the USA and I thought Branthwaite was sitting near the top of lots of key defensive statistics this season.

But yeah, Tomori has been strangely underused in the last three years, I'd have looked at Henry by now had he been fit, and I would prefer Kilman over Dunk.

Maguire, Maddison, Jones left out of the England squad.

What on earth is the back 4 going to look like?

Guehi seems to be Southgates first back up cb, pleased for konsa has been in great form.

Completely endorse Wharton beside rice sitting deep;  but that attacking  talent is immense.

Yes Shef I agree he's not up to it, but joking aside, who else is there? You could play Walker at centre half but that would mean playing TAA at right back. Looking very threadbare at the back😱

Indeed, it is the best front 6 in Europe. The back 4 (Walker apart) not so good

@MidlandsYellowcan you provide step by step instructions to betting on the semi finalists please, preferably on Bet365.

I want to bet on

England

Germany

France

Portugal

but I can only do each one individually. How do I do all 4?

It's a well above average back 4 though, Stones and Walker playing together is a bonus too.

Maguire and Grealish being out is interesting. Maguire down to injury so understandable but seems Grealish has just been deemed not good enough by Southgate. Wonder if Southgate is planning for this to be Ezes time to shine, given no Grealish or Maddison?

This just came up as an ad on my Facebook, has anyone had anything worse as an attempt to associate their rubbish product with the tournament?

Wonderful news. Three players at a major tournament!

I'd like to apologise to all the England fans. Any chance of England winning has now gone out the window. I drew them in the work sweepstake so they're probably screwed now!

Sorry I missed that, I’ll have a look now.

28/1 is the best odds available looking at Odds Checker, this is with SkyBet. I just put in a Google search ‘name Euro Semi Finalists’ and your selections (coincidentally) are at the top of the list.

You can have £10 on those four and they’ll give you £30 in free bets too when signing up.

Also, don't forget the "three" at the Copa America too! Nunez, Cordoba and Sarge although given news today I'd hope Sarge doesn't play and gets that ankle sorted instead.

Confident - I like it.  No decent full backs ?  Don't pick one and go 3-2-3-1.  Just go with our best starting 10 and trust the boys to get it done...

Is that a record for Norwich? 3 players in the same international team?

Wales early 90s as well possibly Bowen, Goss, Phillips.

Russell Martin and Steven Whittaker were both here for several years and spent most of the time as Scottish internationals. A quick check tells me that Graham Dorrans' last cap was just before we signed Steven Naismith, so whilst we would never have had all four, we probably had at least one of the Martin/Whittaker/Dorrans and Martin/Whittaker/Naismith combinations.

Also, we had Phil Mulryne and Paul McVeigh here for many years while they were Northern Ireland internationals and we had David Healy on loan for half a season during that time, so they could've all played together.

Fine margins.

Reports suggest England have brought their own scent to the hotel too.

The FA packed their bags with special fragrances to spray around the venue in order to give the players a sense of familiarity.

The scents are the same ones used at England's St George's Park training base.

There has been scientific studies that claim smells can improve performances as they help mental well-being and promote relaxation away from the pitch.

I believe that our first ever international was Jim Bone for Scotland.

I was a little 'un then and so, so proud.

According to the archives:

"[Bone] made his 2 senior international appearances for Scotland while with City. He played as a substitute for Denis Law (76m) in the 2-2 draw with Yugoslavia in Belo Horizonte on 29 June 1972 and played in the 4-1 victory against Denmark in Copenhagen on 18 October 1972, scoring the second goal (19m) before being substituted (65m)."

I vividly remember listening to the wireless when Boyer made his debut for England with a similar feeling. Again according to the archives:

"[Boyer] made his only senior appearance for senior England team in the 2-1 victory against Wales at the Racecourse Ground, Wrexham, on 24 March 1975. He wore the No. 9 shirt. This was the first time that a City player had played for England while with the club."

So come on then - nail your colours to the mast. Who do you think is going to win the Euros?

I think England will come close but fall at a latter stage. I'm going for France.

France have the strongest team and squad on paper. They're the team to beat for me.
