Genuinely dont see what Southgate is finding so difficult about this puzzle...

             Rice

                             Bellingham

Saka         Foden      Gordon

                Kane

Whats so hard to see this??

That interview from Southgate was a wreck. Looks on the edge. A man who knows he's out of his depth. Do everyone a favour, send him home and let the players work it put for themselves.

All the best.

Big Keith Scott.

I wouldn't have started with Trent, I would have Rice & Bellingham as our two holding midfielders, but when England are on the attack, Bellingham has the legs to support our attacks, leaving Rice just in front of our back four. I would then bring Foden in just behind Kane & just give him a free role, then put Gordon on the left wing.

Why do we need a back four when Denmark only played one up front?

Don’t think that’s a hot take, pitch looks like it should be condemned.

Same for Denmark. They didn't see to have the same problems with it.

They hate this country

No they just hate watching dour, uninspiring football when we have Bellingham, Saka, Foden, Palmer, Eze in the squad.

That game was crying out for a Maddison or Grealish.😄

It did look an awful surface but that can’t come close to excusing the poor tactics and performance levels.

Yes, wasn’t an excuse just an observation.

Then he’d have to trust his CBs with only one DM, the horror.

We've been doing that anyway as TAA offers little protection...whilst at the same nuffifying Foden and having no attacking threat down the left

..at least this solves 2 of the 3 problems

Spain v Italy. 2 teams pressing, looking to play quick, incisive attacking football.

What a novelty!

All the best.

Germany, Spain, Italy and France are all way better than England, probably a couple of others too.

England aren't going to win it. Just enjoy the tournament for what it is.

I think they're all set up and have better game plans than England. I think England have just as good players if they could be used appropriately.

Yeah I don't think Nico Williams, a 16 year old Yamal and Morata are a better front trio than Foden, Saka and Kane but they look so much more dangerous because they are playing with tempo and aggression.

Always the same when we take the lead early. Sit back, invite the opposition to attack and bore everyone to death.

Just like watching Norwich under Wagner. Perhaps, like Norwich, England require a change of manager?

Spain look a fantastic team. Some of the best football of the tournament.

Attacking even in added time. Made Italy look very average.

Replace Foden with Palmer and you're right. Also think Bowen / Saka should be a 50/50 call rather than the latter being a Southgate 'shoe in'. Bowen is a very underrated player and has more goal scoring threat than Saka.

I agree, we’ll see what Southgate thinks I guess.

BBC aren’t holding back.

Walker was aggressively defensive in that interview.

Agreed - didn't think he had any Scouse blood in him but will have to doublecheck!

Spain made our lot look like a Sunday pub team. They are in a different class.

I was bored watching Spain v Italy, I think Southgate has finally killed the game for me.
