From a pragmatic perspective Leeds losing would be better for us. The suggestion is they'll be in a huge financial black hole if they don't go up which would mean they'd be much less of a threat next year.

We actually started playing quite well with that move though, as it gave us a player who could bring the ball out of defence. Not to mention it meant McLean had to be a bit more positionally disciplined and not single-handedly go for a press that wasn't on, and get easily circumvented in the process.

So why did he start? To repeat an early point, Wagner let down by the lack of depth. Although that’s possibly because we wrote the season off and didn’t see any point spending money.
