If the defence in front of Gunn has been poor and he's had no chance with the goals that he's conceded and has made a string of match winning saves then he deserves to be in the running for keeper of the season. The Raptor 1,442 Posted May 10 Ive not really seen enough championship games to judge it. He's been excellent this season though. Possibly the best keeper we've had since his dad

Poor defence means more opportunities to shine. Deserves to be in the running, but the best? Personally I liked Chris Woods. Edited May 10 by Conrad

Possibly the best keeper we've had since his dad I'd argue that Tim Krul at his best for us was the better of the two, although he did seem to go downhill towards the end. His command of the box was often outstanding. Also, what about the ever reliable John Ruddy? Wasn't he player of the season at Brum at the fine old age of 38? A K Narey 189 Posted May 11 I think that we will all agree that City have been blessed with some excellent keepers over the years. (Possibly not all - this is the Pink Un!) For me, Angus is one of the best of the current Championship goalkeepers but he would not yet be in my top 5. Keelan, Woods, Bryan Gunn, Ruddy and Krul, although the order does change! Hairy Canary 734 Posted May 11 I can’t think of a better Championship keeper this season personally. Look at that muppet in goals for the binners and they got autos. Well done Angus, fully deserved.

Strange how that seemed to happen to all the keepers in and around the England squad at that time. Fabio Capello didn't do very well as England coach, but his introduction into the English language of the phrase 'the heavy shirt' was a significant contribution. canarybubbles 2,112 Posted May 11 I can't understand why a minority of posters on here want to actively trash Gunn at every opportunity. I don't know how he compares with our keepers of the past, but I do know that we would almost certainly have fewer points if, say, Long had been between the sticks.
