Seems to fit us perfectly - sell a player for c£9m and buy a replacement for c£4.5m, it’s v much in the realms of what was being said in pinkun articles this morning .

Yep perfect solution,  move one on that we're not really wanting to use, get another one in that might turn out to be useful and we're £4.5 in profit.

What's not to like 🤷🏻‍♂️

I don't think Yildirim is a Sarge replacement, would seen more in line with an Idah replacement to me, but who knows. This final week or so of transfer season is probably gonna be quite hectic for us, one way or the other. I think it's quite exciting, after a long while without so much as a whiff of a new player.

If they turn out to be good, none. If they’re sh1t, they’re Webber’s choice.

I know it’s a joke but I do wonder what people think a scouting/recruitment department does.

It’s not like Webber shredded everything one evening before he left. Or Knapper came in and told them to throw anything they’d previously worked on in the bin while he plonked his Rolodex of names on the table and told everyone we are only interested in these players now.

We have an analytics department that’s probably looking at 100s of names and a scouting system that’s probably keeping a relatively close eye on dozens of them.

Anybody who signs is a Knapper signing now, the guy making the decisions and writing the cheques ultimately has to own it.

And it might surprise some but....one or two might not make the grade!

I know, I know we have got used to every signing going straight into the team, playing like a star and going for mega bucks but under the new regime, can we cut them some slack?

Remember when some fans on here claimed Sargent was not fit for League 2, and couldn't hit a barn door? Not that long ago.

Yildirim's goalscoring record looks dreadful at first glance, but that's because he's spent his entire career playing mainly as a sub.

He's 22 now and every season of his career has seen him make considerably more sub appearances than starts.

He has played 112 matches and averaged 33 minutes per game. His 17 goals have come in at one every 218 minutes, which isn't brilliant but isn't dreadful.

Looking at his highlights, he's a big, physical unit, quite quick, but maybe not the most polished technically.

He's basically the Turkish Adam Idah.

Hopefully has good technical ability if we think he will fit into a Thorup side.

Looking at his highlights, that doesn't look like one of his strengths.

But it isn't out of the ordinary for a technical, possession-based team to have a quick, physical 'chaos' style centre forward, who generates a high number of chances for themselves due to their physical attributes and the technical proficiency of those providing them, especially if said centre forward is being used as an impact player from the bench.

One could argue he looks like a very raw Sargent, which might be the point. The capable understudy.

Ultimately, we've not picked him out for his goalscoring so that means there will be underlying numbers that suggest he's a good fit due to other factors or abilities.

Looks a lot of money for someone who's not really done any thing yet.

The reluctance to give aboh pitch time suggests a little spent on a youngsters with potential may cover idahs departure better than we currently have

Wonder who else will be coming in. All gone quiet on Jonny Rowe exit

I fear this one may run right down to the deadline. Leeds and Marseille are still way short of our rumoured valuation of £15m, a lot depends on to what extent he's prepared to eat humble pie, knuckle down and work hard to repair the damage.

The biggest issue is that by refusing to play, he's made other clubs think they can hold on for a cheaper deal due to him wanting out. Not only completely unprofessional, but could potentially cost the club millions in lost transfer revenue.

The silver lining is that knowing that he wants out might bring more suitors to the table, and potentially bump the value back up again.

Manuel Benson’s name mentioned on X

He was great for Burnley in their promotion season. At 27 he may not fit the 'young and hungry' mould, but at least he'd be 'oven ready' for the Championship. Leeds and Sunderland also rumoured to be interested.

We will need some experience coming in too, I reckon Leeds will be out of the running if they get rowe

Connor suggesting this Yildrim deal is very far down the line, as in close to being done deal.

Medical today apparently. So expecting announcement tomorrow. Hopefully no concrete interest in Sargeant. Bournemouth supposedly interested and money from Solanke deal

Another paper is giving the fee as €5m, which is what Stade Rennais  paid for him a year ago, but no indication if that is basic or .with add-ons.

Ouest-France is giving the basic fee as €7m, with add-ons. I suspect it isn't that high.

Bournemouth are apparently signing El-Bilal Toure from Atalanta on loan with an obligation to buy for €25m. I think with the Solanke money, they probably have their sights set higher than Sargent.

Is this suggested as a Loan?

I could see them still come in for Sargent. Look at who they have on their books - Enas Unal is injured. He's really the only central striker they have. All the rest are more used to playing wide.

I still think where Sargent is concerned the team to watch is Brentford. I can see Toney going and if so, Sargent is a fairly similar striker.

I wouldn't say they are that similar.

Some reports in France (from La Provence ... a regional media outlet) are suggesting that Marseille are getting closer to meeting our demands for Rowe ...

Looking back, the Stade Rennais fans were initially far from impressed, but the mood changed towards the end of last season. The consensus was that he had improved and had potential, and probably would do better elsewhere.

And if this is the then unnamed player Southwell was talking about last night then supposedly the club thought he might even be available for Saturday. So probably close to being done.

Add. In England having a medical now, according to one French paper.

These were comments made recently by Stade Rennes fans, but before they'd heard of our interest:

“I have decided he will turn out well. He has gained in intensity and I am sure he will strongly raise his level.”

“His missing bit is a limited technique with the ball at his feet. That perhaps can be resolved with specific training.”

“I think he has real potential. I like his off-the-ball positioning."

"I love this player. He works hard. He is not short of technical ability. He hasn’t been given his chance. He will shine somewhere else."

“He has potential. Will he realise it? I am not sure.”

Marseille is a much more interesting place than the traffic-clogged Monte Carlo, and a real football city to boot.
