i got tagged with that years ago 🤣 ( overrated )

as for Idah happy getting that for him but imagine if we spent that sort of money and got him !!!

We must have made an overall profit on idah  surely,  which is second best to bringing on a player that has a sparkler of a career with us, but far far better than  the alternative of being stuck with a player thats either not good enough, or thinks he's too good . ( not that I think either apply with idah, I think we got his timing wrong in regard to bringing him in , then leaving him mostly on the bench...again not surprising  with a fully  fit Pukki)

Best of luck  to him , he doesn't seem a bad lad , just wants to play. Wonder if Corinthians in Cork have sell on clause, great for them if they do, its what keeps the wheels turning.

Everyone thinks we got a really good price for Idah

What the likes of @PurpleCanary fails to realise is that £3 million of the fee is actually my pain & suffering claim I put into Knapper end of last season.

We did this with Brady ( my friend was involved with transfer )  when he went to Burnley he signed say mid-day and was not announced until 5/7 pm as we were trying to buy players and didn't want the other clubs to know we had that money sitting there

I've always wondered if there's any rule to say you must announce signings. I guess it would be hard to keep the registration quiet but without a formal presentation you'd surely keep people guessing. So if for example we signed a winger and striker this week and don't publicly announce them there'd be little way for Blackburn to prepare for them properly if they didn't know for sure they were here.

That's likely the case, fairly sure Knapper wouldn't have let Idah leave and therefore leaving us lacking in forward players unless it was likely that someone is coming in very soon.

Probably another complete unknown like Chrisene /Forson

Maybe we are waiting for the Idah deal to be finalised before announcing it.

Taking that into consideration £6.5m is still an amazing deal 😆

Agree, and I wish him well, would never have thought watching him play as a 12/+4 year old, despite being the most exciting player on the pitch that he'd go on to play for us and Celtic( v big for a lad brought up here) . I expect him to grow into his boots at about age 26/7 and become a decent CF.

Agree 100%. Good luck to him. ****ed up with the flight thing, but generally has come across as a decent guy, unlike Cu*twell

This article on the Athletic saying that St Louis of the MLS have had an interest in signing Sarge. Norwich were prepared to sanction an exit for a deal worth in excess of 20 million. The MLS transfer deadline is tonight. Can't see this one happening somehow

I suppose it depends on Sargeant happiness currently. Would be career downgrade moving back.

Pinkun boys very much downplayed the Cannon links last night in the pre-match chat.

Apparently, we're interested in a £3-4M foreign striker.

Club want a permanent replacement for Idah & Cannon is too expensive even if he was favoured.

Yildirim linked now!

Not scored many of late but an interesting profile. 6ft 3, still pretty young but seems to pretty much exclusively play through the middle.

Looks about as handy as Barnes in front of goal..

Yildirim only signed a 5-year contract at current club Rennes last summer. Little bit odd.

I actually have not found any links over the internet in connection with him.

It also sounds like Leeds may of moved on from Rowe, but of course could be in for multiple wide players. Linked with Manhoef from Stoke.

Yeah 21 starts with 0 goals last season... Eeek!

But that doesn't always mean a player is hopeless in front of goal!

He looks like an absolutely perfect replacement for Barnes though who is often injured and definitely past it.... He would send Sarge clean through time and again with those flick ons. I can see some value to bringing him for the role he could play in the team, rather than being an individually prolific striker. He looks like a big, powerful runner with the ball too - bit like Stiepermann except maybe more in control of himself, and seems to win a fair few free kicks which we always have a chance with whilst Nunez is around the team.

One of those signings that would look Dog**** on paper and would create some immediate dissent from the usual suspects on here, but actually could really work out.

He doesn't actually appear to be a taditional central striker either to be fair - from the highlights he usually seems to be out wide or playing deeper in a number 10 position. No idea whether that is right, just going by what I can see on the highlight reel.

It wasn't 21 starts, it was 21 appearances, only two of them were starts.

Came here to say this! And also to say that he has played on the right wing before too, so could act as a rotation player for one of the auxiliary forward positions as well as acting as backup to Sarge. Seems an obvious like-for-like Idah replacement to me.

And I think he knows the name.

This obviously the name. The Stade Rennais fans have cottoned onto this, via a source from Turkey. But no good versus bad reactions yet.

To add, the fee being quoted is €3.5m, which would fit in with the figures Southwell had been mentioning. As would the ability to play out wide as well as in the centre.

Connor suggesting this Yildrim deal is very far down the line, as in close to being done deal.
