Josh isn't first choice for the USMNT when fit, so he was never going to be starting games. In an interview he stated he has been carrying the ankle injury since the World Cup in 2022, so it is a long term management process, many players have this with certain injuries.

While it would have been best for him to spend the whole summer sitting with his feet up somewhere, the fact he was fit enough to train with the US team means he is probably okay. The ankle will have to been monitored, as was happening anyway, but there has been no suggestion that he'll need further surgery on it.

Unless anything happens in the last few weeks of pre-season, I expect he'll be starting against Oxford.

Indeed. For multiple reasons I think Sargent is the least likely to be sold of the ‘name’ players.

He is American, he is hard to replace, he is not brilliant enough to command serious money, he plays a role that is not common, he has good data, he is injured a bit (enough to make a big bid too much of a risk), he is a classic dominate-lower-level-not-dominant-at-higher-level player.

Except, he was not played centrally at that higher level.

Loan bid for Hugo Bueno rejected.

Not so bueno.

He's a miserable so-and-so, if reports are to be believed. We need a kinder Bueno.
