Wasn't that pretty much what Forsyth did? Got an appearance or two in the first team at Hamilton - maybe from off the bench, then came to us.

Forsyth was at Hamilton who had just been relegated to the third tier in Scotland, Forbes is getting games for a Scottish Premiership team - so very different club circumstances.

I expect he'll be a bit of an inbetweener, will largely be in the development squad but may get some bench time if he impresses. Depends on who is loaned out in the next 24 hours - could even see Forbes come in and go straight out on loan.

very true but Dundee utd are 5th in scottish league , if he stayed there he would get first team games ,

he looks a good prospect , i would have him around 1st team on bench and be quite happy

Exactly how i see him

in and around 1st team

not a starter but a younger version of Idah ,

Forbes i expect would be happier being on the bench Here than Dundee utd

it is going to be interesting when the strikers start moving in the PL

i am sure Sarge is on a list of targets somewhere maybe not first choice Target but he will be on a list of maybe's i am sure ,

for a PL team a striker at 20 million is cheap

Cant see us letting him go at this late stage for anything less than around £30m - or at least we would be mad to do so

Can't see Josh wanting to move to a team where he won't be first choice starting striker. If he leaves this season it will be to go to the MLS as a marquee signing (and the wages to match) in January. He won't be going to a Prem club to sit on the bench.

No but Toney fee now been agreed so movement will start

sure Brentford will be in for someone else upfront even after their signings already

The Tarot cards have spoken, in their non-oral way, and this is what will happen today:

1. Sargent will not be sold or lent out.

2. Kamara will go to Hull City once they increase their offer again, which they will do.

3. The on-loan winger replacement will be met here with a mixture of indifference and outright negativity.

4. Slimane will arrive. ☑️☑️☑️

5.Hogesar will crunch some incomprehensible numbers to prove that this transfer window has criminally reduced our expected goals tally. Whatever that is.

6. Essex Canary will draw a questionable comparison with West Bromwich Albion's transfer window. Or which ever club makes the questionable point.

Not that convinced about Sargent leaving - he has a well known long-standing injury problem and any side would need an extended medical. That isn’t particularly conducive to being done in a rush on deadline day.

I can’t see it, but would never be as daft to say it won’t happen!

It has been clear all window that Toney will leave, Brentford have already replaced him with the Brazilian striker. He is injured, but Brentford are a sensible club who won't spend more than half the Toney fee on a player who they will only need until the Brazilian is back to fitness, Wissa and Mbuemo will cover for the first half of the season.

If they do intend to get a replacement in now (which I think is a 50/50) they will have had the deal lined up for a while - a team cannot initiate and complete a deal on deadline day.

Sky Sports reporting chelsea missed out on big 2 strikers they were after now maybe Dominic Calvert Lewin ,

Would Everton be interested in Sarge ?

not saying they are but this is how quickly things can happen

we turned down £25m at the start of the window so why £20m now ?

That summary is eerily close to the mark PC. McNcfc has a lot to learn.

I would add:

7. Four or five young players will be loaned out to the lower leagues and over the border (north). Tomkinson being one such.

8. The window will close quietly for us (as it usually does)

9. The club will announce tomorrow that they are very happy with their transfer business overall and further, we have a great group of players.

10. New posts will emerge in the next few days how we are deeply in a relegation fight (post Coventry) and that the board are useless. Rifts will develop between those who are patient and those not (formerly known as the keep the faith and the pant wetter clans).

Can see an Nketiah loan or buy to Brentford before they come after the likes of Sarge

Yes same here i do not think it will happen

but once strikers start moving anything COULD happen

i think we would of heard Noises of clubs interested over the last week but if Everton DCL it might get a little closer ??

Sarg won’t be leaving today, we’ve not once let a player go cheap so far this window and the lateness of a any bid adds a premium. Knapper knows he will like have to sell Sargent next summer if we don’t go up, however if that’s off the back of another 20+ goal season and more pundits etc describing him as the best striker in the division, we would be in a position to really push for 30 million +.

Sarg has always struck me as a player who has to be enjoying his football to perform well, and I'm not sure that the extra money from a move to Everton would be enough compensation for enduring another long relegation battle in the premiership.

BYG called it a few days ago - Sargent will probably leave to the MLS maybe in Jan if things don’t look they’re happening here.

Sargent’s hometown club has been invested in and generally the MLS is getting more exposure owing to the World Cup build up.

As others have said, why would Sargent move to a relegation battling Prem team when we could be the King in a MLS team? Equally he’s pushing for the USA squad for the World Cup.

Im with BYG on this, he won’t go this window and when he does leave it’ll be to the MLS.

@Bethnal Yellow and Green that’s about the sum of it right?

For me, today is all about keeping hold of Sargeant. However i have a bad feeling we will lose him to Brentford once they sell Toney, which i believe is being held up by clubs fighting over Osimhen. I just hope whoever we have lined up to replace him is a sufficient replacement.

Id actually happily sell Kamara. Any youngster who isn't prepared to fight for their place and would happily chose to play for and live in Hull over Norwich can and should be moved on.
I really would love a left footed out and out winger similar to Sainz to replace him. (Ironically, what we were hoping Kamara would be).

Agree with that and for me the same applies to any player once it's clear it's not just a passing restlessness. Also agree Hull seems a bit odd, but given the alleged alternative destinations of Luton and Oxford maybe the choice makes more sense. Hull has some attractive hinterland going for it and has invited citizens to celebrate love for the city on Yellow Day every June in recent years – yellow being chosen by the day’s founder as it’s “a psychologically uplifting colour, and it resonates spontaneity, optimism, positivity and energy”. Well they’re getting something right !!!

Hope this doesn't confirm my Binner status.

Seems a big assumption to make. Don’t think anyone saw Sara heading to Turkey but money talks.

I assume it’s more an issue of anyone wanting him for our price rather his demand to be first choice.

i think he has potential and as we have seen with Rowe given first team games sometimes players can just move to a different level ,

i think that maybe the case with Kamara ,

i would not sell as i do not think we could buy the potential he has for the same money ,

If he wants away that badly and we have a slot that he has a chance filling got to be questions why ?

I remember a US football coach saying, "Potential means you ain't worth a damn yet". The reality is Kamara has had chances to impress the City management and so far has not done anything like enough to persuade them that he should start ahead of Forsyth or Crnac. Only Kamara and the club knows his state of mind and his willingness or otherwise to fight for a place on merit. We are left to infer that his unwillingness to sign another contract suggests he would rather be elsewhere.

I think I saw someone say that we were linked to Deivid  Washington the 19 year lad from Chelsea who they paid 17 million for that would be a bit of a coup if true.

That is how I see it panning out. Obviously, there is scope for other outcomes, but I can't see a Prem club making Norwich or Josh an offer that works for both parties, especially on deadline day with no prior rumours. If someone was going to sign him today, most of the deal would already need to be in place and JHT wouldn't have been saying just yesterday how he is confident Josh will be around. Big money transfers do not happen in 12 hours.

Josh has been pretty clear in recent interviews how he is very happy now he is the starting 9, after a lot of his early career being backup or playing wide. With a USA World Cup in 2026 I can't see Josh wanting to risk a regular starting gig for a bench somewhere.

The fact he made himself available for the Copa America when he was clearly still injured shows how desperate he is to play for the USMNT, and he is far from being the nailed on starter. There is always scope for change if something slightly crazy appears, but there isn't the time for that to happen today.

I understand that, just feel someone tripling his wage might test his priorities.
