essexcanary 0 Posted March 23, 2006 I cant help but think that letting charlton go is a wrong move. I no that he is gettin on, but he is by no means a bad player. It worries me that we will have no cover for left back now, now brennan and charlton will be gone. Good luck to worthy in trying to attract a left back to sit on the bench whilst drury stroles into the team week in, week out.Charlton plays well when he plays, he was great against Leeds few weeks back, and i think giving him another year should have been the outcome. FilletTheFishWife . 0 Posted March 23, 2006 he was - in my opinion - awful against leeds and his performances have declined generally since last season.
Rossi 0 Posted March 23, 2006 he fills me with fear whenever he wears the shirt
XXL16 0 Posted March 23, 2006 Yes I think it''s wrong to let Charlie go, he was versatile and can fill in any position very well, remember the bullet-liked header at St. Mary''s, he''s even filling Hucks boot!!! But anyway thanks for his great effort for us in last 2 seasons!!! :)
Reading_canary Rob
How degrading is it to have to have an Ipswich fan as your head of year?!
0 Posted March 23, 2006 I''m glad he''s going. He may have been a loyal servent, but as a player, he''s declined rapidly ever since we''ve bought him and that''s been highlighted by his performances this season, particularly in the centre of midfield.I wish him luck. Oso Butch 0 Posted March 23, 2006 Always gave 110% in my view. His best just wasn''t always good enough, but he put in some good performances for us early on.
The Voice of the Thorpe Area 0 Posted March 23, 2006 Hurray! He''s going. He might have gave 110%, but I can still do that, can I get a contract please? Well done Worthy, get out all the dead wood.
still holding out for new heroes 0 Posted March 23, 2006 good the dead wood being got rid of....Thorne next please....
Huddy 0 Posted March 23, 2006 Thank GodHe''s confortably the wrong side of 30, is poor in whatever position you try him in. He works hard but his short on ability. He cannot pass, and isnt quick enough to do a job at full back. So, thanks for the servive but glad you gone. Worthy said “This is a chance to freshen and bring younger legs in." which seems to me that he is planning a clear out. I would love some young talent too come in as long as NW plays them. Dionysus 0 Posted March 23, 2006 A player with everything Worthy looks for - hard-work ethic, good morale, experienced, versatile, etc. Not much of a footballer though and not a player I ever really took to so I can''t say I''m sad to see him leave. We will now need some form of left-back cover next season, though.
EadiesRight Foot 0 Posted March 23, 2006 Echo those thoughts Dionysus - I never thought signing him was the greatest move in the world, but then having just re-read my post, it looks like I am revelling in hindsight. If we need him for cover at left back, then maybe (just slightly) there is a case for keeping him, but as a midfielder, never. He hasnt really acquitted himself well when he has played at full back, let alone in the Headless Hughes role in midfield. Bring players such as Rossi, Spillane, and Cave-Brown through instead. See ya Charlie....!
mrtumble 0 Posted March 23, 2006 Havent we got Rossi Jarvis to cover the left back spot? Is that not his natural position?
0ridgemanddMMyyyy0Falseen-USTrue 0 Posted March 24, 2006 Charlton had to go because he had the balls to say what many of the supporters knew that we had the quality to stay in the Premiership. That leaves the blame fairly and squarely with who?.
Huddy 0 Posted March 24, 2006 but we pick pick him ahead of safri! It doesnt make sense.
