Google Bot 3,934 Posted January 13 (edited) Was superb tonight, and as CC said above, we went on a poor run of results when Long was in goal. It's not just the saves, but the reassurance of having a switched on keeper behind you when playing. Edited January 13 by Google Bot

nu_matik 184 Posted January 13 Some excellent saves and had his head fully screwed on. Let's hope he's here a good few years. When he plays like that he's one of the best in this league

Gunn joined Man City with us getting an initial £250,000 payment. I wonder if there was any sell on clause, appearance payments etc, as he joined S'oton for a figure quoted as £10million. hogesar 10,765 Posted January 13 Just remember it's 2024 and there are still Norwich fans, on this forum, who don't rate Gunn at championship level. Let that sink in and then suddenly the booing 8 minutes into a game when we pass it out from the back makes sense.
GJL Mid-Norfolk Canary 2,035 Posted January 13 Granted Long played well vs Bristol R...but i wonder how many points we lost during Gunn's injury?
HazzaJet 267 Posted January 13 Will turn 28 on the 22nd and is beginning to look like a bit like a replica of his Dad. Really hope that he signs a new contract as he only has one year left, we don’t currently have anyone good enough to take over his duties and is one of the players we should be building a team around. If we offer him a new contract hopefully his Dad will encourage him to sign it.

But we don't pass it out from the back, we pass it around and across the back and then someone normally just hoofs it up the pitch? The idea of passing it out from the back is to create space into which to play the ball forward into midfield or to a forward in space. We seem largely incapable of moving the ball around quickly enough to create that space with the result that often panic sets in and we hoof it forward.
Indy 3,471 Posted January 13 Let’s be honest alongside Rowe the two in the running for POTS! Excellent keeper.

We seem largely incapable of moving the ball around quickly enough to create that space with the result that often panic sets in and we hoof it forward. But when we do create chances, its when we've been successful moving it out from the back. If fans booed when it broke down it'd make sense, booing it 8 minutes into the Hudds and Weds home games when it was working gives you an insight into the football-intelligence surrounding you...

If we offer him a new contract hopefully his Dad will encourage him to sign it. That's the conundrum. We seem to produce an infinite amount of keepers, who barely rise above a loanee at a lower league club. It would be foolish to think that Gunn has not been approached by PL clubs, if only for his performances. He is the Scottish number one and a good Euro thing this summer will undoubtedly be raising his value. A bonus is that he is a Norwich lad and being 'stuck' out here and in the Championship has not done his international career any harm. Him and Krul will be a hard act to follow, when the time comes.
