Maybe It’s Not All Delia’s Fault

Recommended Posts

There is evidently a huge chasm between the rhetoric of the football club and what is actually happening on the pitch. Zoe Webber is still stating in match day programs that promotion is ultimate aim this season. Peal back the layers and it’s difficult to back this up. I beg you to find one other championship club who would have kept with Wagner with his two major losing streaks.

Personally with the play offs being realistic achievement at the end of last season the end form / mood of the crowd should of seen him go then. But he didn't and we have suffered similar lapses in form and even worse quality in football this season. Whats different ? In the past Norwich have afforded managers time but eventually the crowd turns (Dean Smith , Worthington … even Alex Neil to a degree) and the club hold their hands and twist. But the club haven’t done it this time with two very clear opportunities , why ? I think its not down to not Delia and co but the rhetoric coming from our new american co-owners . Mark Attanisio stated during the AGM his reluctance to sack managers likening the role of manager to that of a ceo  company. With some investment made already I believe they are now calling the shots for better or for worse based on this mad behaviour of Wagner still being in a job / style of football. Ben Knapper I believe has his hands tied in sacking manager as this is coming from the top. This is the only reason I can think of why we are still in this position.  I like Wagner as a person but football has been awful. I don’t think he is getting the boot anytime soon so all we can do is get behind them team.

There’s a chain of command and ultimately Delia is responsible for surrendering this club to the likes of the people that have/are currently running this club.

The protracted departure of Stuart Webber + Knapper getting up to speed + fondness of Wagner in some quarters at the club + an upturn in results but not performances + the January window - have all now combined to mean that unless we are flirting with relegation or on a long losing streak - Wagner now has the season. God forbid if he gets longer.

She wants to stay for two more years but thankfully will leave sooner. Her and the not so attention seeking husband are well past their sell by dates.

...will leave sooner?

Out if interest, why do you feel that way when she seems determined to doggedly hang on?

Why on earth would she leave if not pushed - someone with her lack of talent, lack of vision and lack of emotional intelligence wouldn’t earn a fraction of her current salary anywhere else?

This season will finish just like the last one, vey disappointingly. Her and hubby have nothing to offer to move this club forward. We’ve took the Yanks money (thank goodness) and as stubborn as she is I can hear the announcement before she turns 83.

The malaise at the club is all ultimately down to the limbo they have placed us in and their selfish refusal to sell/take on investment at times wren it could have made a real difference. Fans have woken up to the fact we have wasted our chances and can’t compete under them so see it as pointless and are apathetic. That and also allowing the Webbers to destroy the atmosphere at the club and relationship between club and fans.

They are both 83 next birthday, the pressure of another season’s failure and criticism from the media will definitely be taking its toll. As stubborn as they both are time has caught them.

So, what is Delia's salary? P.S the accounts should help you determine.

She recently said the handover might happen faster than the original three years timescale.

If you follow the thread it was a clear reference to Zoe.

I hear you and think this to some extent too, but I would hope that the rhetoric to Knapper is more "take your time and make sure the next appointment is the right appointment".  They must see that our current CEO / manager is not delivering.  Attansio is quietly influencing the octagenarians, I suspect if he were in sole charge things would be different, but making sure he is not rocking the boat too wildly - it sort of demonstrates he sees this as a long term project.

I suspect he was referring to the reference to Zoe in the opening paragraph of the OP though the trail is confusing.

I've said on another thread the problem now is the remaining 2 years of the Smith & Jones / Attanasio concord. The Boardroom meetings must be horrible, people just politely dancing around each other, avoiding upsetting the other. Parma is needed to join the Board and kick ****! 😉
